After waiting seven months, my van was delivered last week. The first thing i did was install the carpet. The carpet came from Ford and fit perfectly. After installing the carpet i hung a 4’x8’ lattice on the driver side wall using zip ties. The lattice was purchased at Home Depot and the idea came from another van build i saw a picture of once. My thoughts are that it will make a great place from which to hang things.

Next was to bring the sleeping platform and toilet into the van along the driver side opposite the sliding door. There are 4 tie down points (3 of which can be seen in the previous photo) that will be used to secure the sleeping platform and other items on that side of the van. I was real pleased (and surprised, actually) to see how well the sleeping platform fit in spite of having been built before i actually got the van.

I’ve been on the road for a month now so I’ll call my conversion complete as of now.

What remained to do was outfit the cooking and food area. I did this by building a low platform (using the same materials and methods i used to build the sleeping platform). On top of the platform are a set of drawers containing cooking utensilsa and other miscellaneous stuff, my GasOne dual-fuel (butane/propane), a Yeti Tundra 65 cooler, a plastic container containing food not needing refrigeration, a cutting board, and collapsible water basin.

Attached to the wall using magnets are plastic bags and mesh pockets to hold stuff.

Above that is a shelf containing 12 mason jars that hold grains, nuts, and other food stuffs. The shelf was built for me by the same guy that built the box for the toilet.

After almost three months on the road, i recently had a modest solar system installed on our Ford Transit van. After consulting with Northern Arizona Wind and Sun to determine my current and future electrical needs, i purchased a 320 watt solar panel, two 100 amp-hour Battle Born lithium batteries, and all the equipment necessary to make the system work.

Installation was expertly handled by Buddy’s Welding and RV of Flagstaff, Arizona.

Sounds like a great system!  I would love to get a lithium battery someday.
