I was getting ready to head out after loading up.

Got in the car,  and my dog Lacy was gone,  and still is.  This is a completely fenced-in facility,  so I can't imagine how she could get out.
If we could save the recremenations for later, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Pat

I'm really glad you found her.

Oh good! I can't imagine my life without my doggies. They often make better friends than people.

I am happy for you both!

I am soooo happy for you!!!! that must have been very scary. (i have never met a person yet I loved more than my dogs)

WHEW!!! That's some heart stopping stuff right there.

Glad you found her! And did the little rascal tell you how she escaped, or did she go all innocent on you?

Wow!

I am glad you found Max's girlfriend. He would be very upset.

She had crawled UNDER the fence, then couldn't get back in.  She ran up to a lady going into her office, and tried to show her where she needed to go.
The lady took her to a vet across the street.  I hit Facebook and also asked for prayer.  One of my friends lives in that neighborhood.  The lady saw him walking around, and decided he looked like he was looking for a dog.  She went out and told him where Lacy was.  My friend called me, and I went to pick her up.
She will NOT be allowed to wander like that anymore.  I figured it's all fenced in, I've been using that place for years and never had a problem with my dogs.

Lacy was NOT talking... I asked her where she had been , and she pretended to not understand... (she really didn't, being deaf!  :D )  This was about 2 hours after I noticed she was not in her seat.   I was BEREFT.  I've already had two dogs go across the Rainbow Bridge this summer.  If I had lost Lacy... I would have been lost.

Thanks for all the good wishes.  Jim, don't tell Max anything about it.  I'm sure he would be really pissed at me.

The moral support I knew you folks were giving was worth treasures untold.

Thanks,

Pat

I heart dropped a beat when I read that first comment, and I knew you were devastated!  Sooooo happy you found her. Did you put her in a time out, whoops guess thats hard when you are hugging the stuffing out of her!

Thank goodness you found her

So glad you found her! I know the panic of that situation well.

There are some inexpensive pet trackers that run off Bluetooth on your phone, work in a local radius (to your device as opposed to running through a cell tower)...google "pet tracker" to see options.  More expensive ones and "services" require cell access, but I am pretty sure the bluetooth works regardless...just important to catch a disappearance quickly

No time out.  Strictly hugs!   :)

I've had her for 7 years.  We have been hiking in some of the most remote areas with no problem.  It was the fence that messed her up.
Since she's deaf, it seems to me that her sense of smell is enhanced.  I've watched her find me using her nose to find where I am.   Whenever I have lost sight of her, I stand still and let her find me.

It's harder when you're around the "things of man".  She needs to NOT be allowed to wander.  I need to learn that lesson.  And act like I've learned it.

Thanks.. I'll look into that pet tracker... cause you just never know!!!!!!

Hi Pat,

My heart sank when I read the title of this thread, but happy to see it's already turned into a happy ending. I always let my dog roam in the storage area, realizing he could get out if he was at the gate when another person happened to be coming in but so far no issues. He's a roamer if allowed to be so I usually have to keep an eye on him. He's gotten off his leash a few times, still don't know how he does it, but he returns hours later looking quite pleased with whatever he's accomplished on his outing.

I have a tracker for him I use when out of state just in case. But it's dependent on cell signal so doesn't work in lots of places I like to camp.

When I saw your initial post, my heart leapt into my throqt and it wasn't until the next message that I could take breath of relief for you.

Part of why it hit me so hard is that I finally "got out" on my journey yesterday. My puppy is just over four months and everything is such a novelty that she wants to GO! I have a special command "Venga!" (Spanish for "come here!"), with which she is pretty reliable, but I don't know if she would listen to me in this new environment with all the cool stuff around. I'm keeping her on a closely watched lead whenever outside, but you know how dogs are. I even attach the leash before I open the door.

I'm so happy that your situation came to a good end.

I really do know.  And thanks for the good wishes, to both you and ERLH.

Bless you both.
