Hello to all

I have just one more month before I take early retirement and head off around North America in my Jeep for a couple of years. I have a bed in the back with a little storage and a Thule bin on the roof. I'm having to cut right down on 'stuff' but as an ex-Army guy I should be ok !

Great site and lots of help. Thanks !

Welcome from North Florida, What type of Jeep? Don't be afraid to ask questions, we're here to help.

It's a 4dr Wrangler. I joined in on the "Any SUV dwellers" thread. I will have lots of questions :))

Welcome from Quartzsite, Az.
Living in a van for extended periods is challenging. Tho it is do-able, it takes a particular talent to spend a couple years traveling in a Jeep/SUV.

Best wishes in your plans.

Ah, my " if I win the lotery dream toad" I would love to explore the old historic trails, stagecoach trails etc. Just now retiring my 4th Cherokee, and becoming a vandweller. Duane

How-d Argyll....WELCOME to the forum!!

I think a Jeep would be a very cool rig to live in, as you've got all your stuff and your bedroom with ya, AND, you can go just about anywhere in one too!!

I know a guy who's been living in/on a motorcycle (w/ a hack) full-time for over 7 years now...and he's got a dog with him too!

...so a Jeep is very doable!!

Pictures man...PICTURES!!

We're in the same boat. I'll be starting out in the near future as well and will most likely be asking the same questions, so we'll probably be learning the ropes together. good luck!

Thanks for the hellos ! I'm a mod on a police forum and we're far less friendly to rookies !

How do I post pictures ??

You can add pics as attachments down below the post box. Its a 2 step thing where you add the pic and then insert it, so you have to watch where your post cursor is.

Other method is adding from the URL from Photobucket or other host using the "insert image" icon at the top right tool bar.

Hope this helps.

Ahhh, so we have our own cop on the site.
Cool, can I play with the siren :D

I have a friend that is using his car and likes it. You will be using a few bags and boxes. Better than backpacking, A little more stuff. Just get some supplies in boxes ready to send and have somebody to send them.

A good small tent will help.

Start with a few days camping close to home and find out what you really need.

Best, James AKA Lynx
