For those considering an DC to AC power inverter for your rig, found this chart to help in selecting the right size inverter for your situation.<BR><BR><BR>
 
Thanx so much, Starman. That at least gives us a good idea of what types of things we can run. I just got an 800, and I really wasn't &nbsp;sure exactly what I could use with it.
 
Actually you did such a good job finding that chart that you should come up with chart showing some guidelines as to basically how much battery should be used to power some of those items and a rough time frame of how long they will run. Relax, Im just messing with you. lol. It is a good chart but people should also realize that when they buy a battery it can only do so much.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; They can buy a minimal 12 volt battery and hook up a 1500 watt inverter to it but it wont last long. Some of you guys have lots of experience with the solar stuff and inverters and others are just starting out and have no idea what to do. <br>&nbsp; When I started thinking about inexperienced people and electricity I did the post about battery explosions. It also makes me think of the wrenches I have seen with an end melted off or a guy I worked with that had a wedding ring turn cherry red on his finger. And guess what happens when that ring turns red? Your natural instinct is to grab it with your other hand to get it off your finger. Now you have a finger nearly burned to the bone and 3 or 4 fingers on the other hand that look sort of ugly too. Thats the big difference between a/c and d/c. 120 a/c will jolt you but d/c goes into melt down. Especially when you use multiple batteries. Battery explosions, molted lead blown into the face or eyes. I cringe when I think of what could happen.<br>&nbsp;I would imagine there is a lot of money wasted on trial and error. No good comes from buying the wrong component when it will never acomplish what they want. Then the correct component still needs to be bought. ok I'll shut up now. <br><br>

<p style="margin: 0px;">Thanks for posting the chart - it's pretty cool.&nbsp; It's also pretty accurate.&nbsp;&nbsp; They recommend 1000W for a small microwave... My 600 watt micro draws 900 watts (microwaves are SO ineffiecient!).<br></p><p style="margin: 0px;">I bought the 2500 watt inverter in case I want to run the microwave when boondocking... It reality, it's not going to be used for that... The on-board Honda generator can run the micro just fine...&nbsp; <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">The chart is&nbsp;awesome for&nbsp;getting started but there's nothing like experience...&nbsp; It took me a while to decide what kind of camping to do and where, for how long, etc... That makes a big difference.&nbsp; I planned for the worst - extended boondocking... That drove the decision for bigger batteries.&nbsp; In reality, I seldom boondock so far... It's nice to have that extra capacity though.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p>
