Here is short intro to say "Hello".

I've been juggling thoughts about a roving, downsized, remainder-of-time-to-this-life. It just seems practical when realizing I've allowed too many anchors to be attached. Almost all of those anchors are others impositions. Some are light, or easily detached. A few are welcomed or compromised. Others much heavier and often restrictive...even dictating.

Perhaps shrinking my world, my cares, my responsibilities. Perhaps "living in a van down by the river" is the means for me.

I've read so much of this site already and found useful, thoughtful, and funny information and comments.

Thank you Mr. Bob, Admins, and all contributors.

Welcome to the CRVL forum !   :)

Great source of ideas for you here.

I've gone full circle myself.   Started out in UNI with my first Van and had the time of my life with it.  Purchased a small fiberglass runabout motorboat with 30 hp motor to tow behind it for week end camp outs during nice weather.

Graduated and moved up to a better Van, sold the boat and got a small economy car to tow behind it.  Started working in Corporate and moved around a lot.  Learned to live the nomadic life in style.  Could move out and relocate in the span of a week end and be at work on Monday morning.   Packed the car with immediate apartment needs including inflatable bed,  and boxes for bathroom & kitchen needs.  Then on Monday night would unpack the Van with stuff to set up the apartment.   Thus by Tuesday I had both the Car & Van to use for work and through the first week would set up the apartment to "live" in.

Left that life and now own a home on the river that I've worked out of for years.  Purchased another Van after selling the other & econo car to get a small pick up truck.   Found a Ford E 350 extended high top and bought it.  Am now looking at a job where I can make a living in 6 months of the year and fixing the house up for sale.   Once liquidated I'll look for a 10 or 12 x 6 high top utility trailer to fix up for shower, toilet, laundry, generator,  water storage, and hot water heater. (battery bank)

I may go on the road in the months I'm not working and bookdock or sight see.  Then park the rig on a
parking lot where it is protected before going back to the job.  When camping I may be able to detach the trailer and use just the Van as it will have the bed, kitchen, and ice chest.  Thus I can run errands or go sight seeing

This is how I plan to do what you are talking about.
