howdy.&nbsp;<div>found this looking for something else but i believe you folks might just be able to help me. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle">&nbsp;</div><div>i'm a single mom with two little boys. in less than a month i plan to be living full time in a fifth wheel trailer... somewhere. i don't have a place to go! i'm also rescuing a wonderful pit bull and i'm finding it rather difficult to find places where she will be allowed as well. i will be homeschooling my boys as well as starting a small, portable (in a wooden pallet) garden.&nbsp;</div><div>i'm looking for a single spot to live long-term, that will allow me to have guests that will camp in tents in agreeable weather.&nbsp;</div><div>i guess i'm asking if anyone knows how to find a place like that? i've found a few (5/6) rv parks that i can afford and will allow pits but i'd really really really like to stay away from THAT as much as possible. can't be avoided forever, i know. what about state campgrounds? anyone else in a similar situation?&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>thanks! and i'm happy to be here!&nbsp;</div><div>bronwyn</div>

Hi Bronwyn. It really depends on how far you're willing to travel. If you're willing to follow the weather there are plenty of places where you can stay down in the southwest during the winters. In Quartzsite, AZ BLM sells a 7 month winter pass (Sept 15 to Apr 15) for $180. If you don't want to spend anything to park anywhere there's Slab City in Niland, CA. Neither location has any restrictions on dogs.<br><br>Most people cruise back up north during the summers to avoid the heat and stay at a lot of different places. Mostly RV parks where they have to pay. I wish I could speak more to his part, but don't really know of any places like Q or Slab city up north.&nbsp;<br><div><br>I'm hoping one of the others here can help you find the perfect place up north.</div><div><br></div><div>Steve</div>

Look on Craigslist. We found a wonderful two-year space rental that way. Search for "RV pad" or "RV space." Sometimes you find spots in parks, sometimes on private land--until you get some experience, the latter might be safer. Always keep your instincts on full alert when dealing with individuals and walk if it feels funny. Make sure you know what utilities/facilities are included before you commit. <br><br>Linda<br><br>

i've been browsing craigslist and found a few privately owned spaces. they just seem so shady! maybe i'm being too picky.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>and i actually did find that $180 pass and was entertaining that idea for a while - it'd be a great way for me to save up - but out of parenting necessities (the dad is up here and gets visitation pretty regularly) i'd like to stay up here.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>thank you for your help! i'll keep looking. i know this was meant to be so something will pop up.</div>

The pitbull (my favorite doggies of all) is banned in most private campgrounds from what I've heard. The awesome power of bullshit... But on government land it's just fine. And you can camp for free in any national forest or BLM but you have to move every 2 weeks.<BR><BR>May not be ideal for you so I suppose your only other option is to call around to campgrounds and see.<BR>
