Hay nomadic friends.. I stumbled on a great guy... who has the verizon mifi hotspot... which he sells on etsy..
the mifi is 180.00 and you get the first month free..u do pay shipping..
I've been using it for 4 months... works great .. its the 4g... I use it for everything.. netflix... gab... bitchute.. youtube etc...
I'm NOT A gamer.. he mentioned he also has the what is rico..roxey what ever that service ..too..anyway..
I'm gonna sit tight until they drop the 5g on the 5th if all is still good....
I will share it all... I have his card now as well....
keep in touch with me if you want the info and will pass it along..by the end of the week.

i been using the tmobile mifi...inseego 2000. it seems good - problem is it reboots randomly, etc. a replacement is on order. but otherwise, seems ok. i think $100G a month for $50. i hope those numbers are right. i also use visible ($40/month) and tmobile phone (formerly sprint... $20/mo?)... so all in all, around $110/mo... i may try to cut that down, but i wanted multiple carriers... visible uses verizon.
i wanted to be able to take all these devices out on the road. i don't carry broadband at home. my internet reeks at home, but i don't do any streaming services, so the reeking is not as bad as the stupid commercials on youtube. i use adblock, which is only semi-effective on one of my devices.
happy ny.

How has this been working for you? It's only been 10 days since you posted, but I am also looking at this device.

Thanks in advance,

Pat

I used a mifi for quite sometime and it worked really well for me. Now I have unlimited data on my cell so I just use it as a hotspot when I need to.
Depends on the service too though ... some hotspots have a limit.. like straight talk.. 10 g.. so if you like netflix of other it stop pretty quickly..
this I've been using 4 months... I use it online and netflix etc etc and I have no interruption at all and all of 45 bucks .. which for me is doable.

Pat,
It's been 4 months... I am not on the road all the time but I have been many places far from my mobile and it pulls 4g just fine.. I can still do netflix and the regular social sites... its easy on the charge holds it well.. .. It 180 ..which honestly I looked at many places .. and they charge you big bucks... meaning 600... att.. verison regular stores.. its that kinda numbers.. so you buy it.. and then pay 45 a month and truly unlimited use... and its on the verizon backbone so the best service out there... I like the guy .. he's nice and always available. I'm not doing this to make money .. I just have been on the road for a long time off and on and the connection is important.

I'm not trying to hi Jack your post, but I think I have an alternate way of doing unlimited WiFi too. But, 1 important ? is how much data are you needing each month?

Just posted in another thread about this but thought I'd mention it here. I've been using the calyx institute 5g service for almost a year now, upgraded from the 4g service. I liked the 4g modem that had external antenna options better, and for the 5g the coverage is spotty some times. I would like to see if a cellular booster would help but am waiting for one that supports the 5g bands.

I can say that I'm NEVER throttled on data, and use it for everything... TV, internet, streaming... Usually about 300 to 400 GB per month. Cost (once you buy the modem) is $500/year (so about $42/month) but you pay all at once.

Do your research, but I still have 2 subscriptions... One for myself and I still keep the 4g active which I gave to my parents who don't have broadband available either.

hi pat, and other inseego mifi-lookers...

i've had mine for a few months, the inseego mifi via tmobile. i believe $50/mo for...100G?? my original inseego, i noticed would reboot randomly, during operation. i finally got a replacement, because i thought it was malfunctioning. the new unit does the exact same thing. i called inseego - they said since my signal was poor, around -100db, and the SN was barely around 0, the mifi was rebooting because the signal was so low compared to noise, the signal was so weak... the SN should be closer to plus 10.

i've put my inseego all around various areas of my house - the best the poor thing can do is a SN of maybe 5 to 10...which helps, afaik. the signal itself is still around -100. i feel like it's kind of a POS, not that i no much about cell signals, etc. i live in an urban area, i am in a house with okay sight lines, i can put my mifi right next to a window - facing in any direction of the compass. i feel i'm in a pretty good location and dwelling to get a good signal. but no ---- apparently not.

if i were in a condo, or high rise,...or out in the boonies... i don't see why this inseego would be of even less usefulness ... i'm not that happy with it, but unsure what to do. at this point, i'd consider trashing it, if i could. it does offer some benefits, just not sure how much. i only connect one to four devices to it. the main problem is weak signal, weak SNR, rebooting... i'm not an expert.

there's pc's for people... in minneapolis, or so... they provide internet for people with lower incomes. my sub is free. you buy the modem/router.

just wondering what dwelling type you are in, and what kind of city/town/nowhere you are... i just posted here... my inseego mifi seems like a compromise at best... i can't say i have a lot of confidence in it, and can't imagine watching tv on it. i youtube, with one or two devices, and count myself lucky when it works. it just seems iffy, but i believe it's better than my phone hot spot. but that ain't syaing much, imho.

Thanks for your input doublegregg, I will give it more consideration before jumping in.

He's not using Visible sim cards is he? I've seen people putting those in mifi's or routers. A person can get those for $25 per month and make those work. Are these legit hotpsot unlimited data plans? Designed for this service? If not, is there a possibility they could be shut off without notice?

update on my inseego mifi:
after 9 or ten months, of using that pos with t-mobile, i'm done. i threw it in the garbage, and paid it off --- to the tune of $160? what a pos. i am not an expert in cell signals, ham radio (tho i'm licensed, but just barely, lol). but i took that thing all over town, trying to find a good solid signal. best signal: intersection 13 miles from my house, and outside someone's house, 10 miles from my house. this does not make it useful to me, tho.
afaic, this thing is hit or miss. hit: ok, you may get faster downloads! (but not uploads, as in zoom). but one day, faster downloads, the next, not faster. miss: - it's barely better than my cell phone as a hotspot, altho usually it's actually worse.
in fact, after i recently powered up the mifi (i rarely use it, did i mention it is irritatingly slow to boot), i remember - "hey, last night it cr*pped out on me as usual."
then it had it's............ demise. 9 months old. worthless.
i've spoke to the manufacturer... i do not understand how this thing is useable to people. i truly don't. um, and i use one or two devices with it? if i could use one device connected to it - reliably and with a solid connection, i'd settle for that!
it is pretty good at holding down pages of a book you're reading. the rubberized edges make it pretty damn good for that, plus it's slightly heavy. that is the only area in which it is better than a cell phone.
lesson learned. cost: $50*9 + $350 is about $800.
sorry, i'm totally angry writing about it.

I have been using the Verizon Mifi for about 13 years. It has always worked great. I have taken it all over the country and as long as it is within reach of a cell tower it will work. Never had problems with it unless it needed a new battery which only happened once. It is very useful to me for getting info on my laptop or doing email because the phone is too small for me to see maps well enough and it's too hard to write an email on it. I have been very happy with it.
