Good suggestions, Journeyman

Joey, Here's another:

Get a pad of post-it notes in a bright color. Walk through the house and put a bright square on anything you want to give away. Call Salvation Army, GoodWill, any thrift store, or a Vets organization to donate those items, and invite them to bring a truck and men to pickup all that stuff. You can watch them while they lift and haul it away.

Like Journeyman said, any town has strong people who will work for low wages, so check with churches for reliable help. Pick them up and take them back, and you can watch them lift and move stuff into your shed.

Good luck,
Bob
Good advice, Dennis, thanx!
Any & all input is welcome!

Thanx, Bob! Food for thought, for sure! :)

I finally gave up on the carb for my motorhome, & in ultimate desperation, took it to a repair shop Friday, leaving it for them to try to finish. They'll prolly charge me the entire carb-rebuild fee, but that's the way it goes. Not to mention, 2 round trips to town will total nearly 100 miles of driving & about $15 worth of gas.

Then this morning, I went out there to see how hard it was gonna be to reinstall the carb whenever they get it done. Oh my gosh, I'm SKROOD! There's hoses, lines, linkages, nuts & bolts, some kinda bracket that I have NO IDEA AT ALL what it goes to, & all kinds of crap laying there. It's a total nightmare! No possible way in a million years I can put it all back together, ESPECIALLY when I wasn't even there to see it all taken apart.

By my friend tearing all this stuff apart, & then bailing out on me right in the middle of it all, he has made things worse than ever! I don't know WHAT I'm gonna do NOW.

To make matters worse, nobody's been back to help me with ANYTHING, even one single time, & I'm down to only 5 weeks remaining till the deadline to be outta the house.

It just keeps gettin' better... :-(

I'm sorry Joey.
Dragonfly

Get on the net Joey and find a forum with your type of vehicle engine. There may be people on there who've had carb problems and may be able to give you direction. Keep goggling the net until you come up with a site.
Keep pluggin away at your stuff. Have a garage sale every weekend. Get rid of what you can for money even if its cheap, otherwise you'll be giving it away for nothing.
Don't give up and don't stress too much. Its just STUFF; possessions that are controlling you and making you feel ill because you no longer have a home for them. Once you are free from your STUFF, you'll wonder why you ever allowed yourself to give STUFF so much power in your life that its power made you miserable. You may thinK, "OH NO, ONLY 5 MORE WEEKS!" Really its, "YEEHAA, ONLY 5 MORE WEEKS"! Remember, there is a rainbow after the storm! Good luck.
Rae
Thanx, Dragonfly. I'm trying my best to keep my spirits up, but I seem to be getting more despondent by the day. It's beginning to look like a hopeless situation. :-(

One thing I try to do, to keep up hope & spirits, is continually read all the posts here on the forum, & try to participate & contribute whenever possible, regardless of which thread, or what the subject is. Seems like it helps a little at times, especially when I read about someone's positive experiences, travelling, getting the camper they want, adventures, work progressing on their vans/conversions, people getting & giving each other helpful advice, get-togethers, etc, etc, etc.

I don't wanna be the continual wet blanket on here, but I don't even have anyone to talk to, so sometimes I kinda "vent", or if U prefer, whine & moan, LOL. Hey, if nothing else, maybe it'll help someone else who's not having quite such a tough time of it to appreciate their own position & realize it could be worse. I also know it could be worse for me as well!

Thanx, Rae! You're EXACTLY RIGHT!
In fact, your very username pretty much says it all... YES I CAN! :)

"YEEHAA, ONLY 5 MORE WEEKS" - Rae

I like that! :)

Here's what I'm up against, as far as reassembling the ol' dinosaur, after I get the carb back:

In addition to this mysterious bracket, & all the other parts I mentioned, there are springs & various other parts scattered about.

I doubt this ol' antique is ever gonna be roadworthy, & I know I certainly wouldn't trust taking it out anywhere, but it would be nice to at least get it MOVABLE! So far, I've owned it for a year & 9 months, & I've never had it outta the yard. Just like this ridiculously over-sized house, I've come to regret buying it! :-(

Okay, good news & bad news...

The good news is, I got a phone number for the guy who took all this stuff apart, called him, told him I'd do whatever it takes, & he said he'll put it all back together for me when I get the carburetor back from the shop that's putting it together. If I'm lucky, maybe one day this week!

The bad news is, the town he moved to is about a one hour drive from here, & I have to go get him, so it's gonna be a 2-hour-round-trip drive to get him & bring here to do the work, & another 2-hour-round-trip drive to take him back home, PLUS I'll have to pay him, so it looks like I'll be spending at least 4 hours on the road that day, in my old worn-out oil burner with bald tires. :-(

Oh well, at least maybe I'll finally get the ol' dinosaur running.

...hopefully.

Joey,
That's really good news! Make sure you have him bring a change of clothes and a toothbrush, because it may take him more than one day to put it together and you don't want him to leave until it's done.

Bob

Hey Joey, If you have any problems with him or something else let me know. I saw your pictures and know where everything goes to put it back together. If nothing else, I can talk you threw it. Yell if you need help. Sid.
Yeah, no kidding! That would mean ANOTHER 4 hours of driving on my bald tires & ragged-out truck, which I'm trying to make last just a little longer, till this house deal is finished & I can finance me something decent to drive.

Thanx, Sid! I'll keep that in mind as my back-up plan! I'm thinking that would be a mighty difficult way to do it, long-distance & all, but prolly not impossible. :)

If my house takers are telling the truth, & actually mailed the payoff check to the mortgage co last Wednesday, like they said, then the mortgage co will have the check tomorrow, BARELY in time to prevent them from taking another house payment outta my bank account 3 days later!

I'll be calling them in the morning, to attempt to get verification. One thing is certain... if Thursday comes & goes without that payment being taken outta my account, I'll know I'm good to go, & 3 weeks later it'll all be final.

Then, Lord willing, I'll buy a truck, replace the tire that exploded on the side of my little cargo trailer, hook up, & HIT THE ROAD! When I do, I don't plan on coming back here for AT LEAST a month, maybe longer, depending on finances! Well, after the home has actually departed the property anyway. I can't actually leave before then, but it'll take me at least that long to find & buy a truck anyway, most likely.

Wish me luck this week! :)

Wishin you luck... Ain't it neat how those with special knowledge here are willing to help each other out. What a great bunch!
Rae
Yes, it is, Rae! I feel blessed that I found this place! :-D

Good news today! In today's mail was the letter I'd been waiting for, verifying that the request I made last week for cancellation of auto-draft of my house payments had finally been cancelled. Just barely in time, too, with only 3 days to spare. Then, I called the mortgage co, & they said they DID in fact receive the payoff check this morning, so now it's just a matter of the 3 weeks waiting period!!!! YAY!!!!

Also, more good news... made the dreaded 50-mile-round-trip to town today & picked up my carburetor. They not only finished it, but NO CHARGE, cuz my brother works there & he was the one who finished it! Sure, it was a total of 100 miles of driving & gas, but NO CHARGE on the work, so YAY!!!!

Tomorrow, the phone man is supposed to be here to assess the situation as far as moving my DSL/phone box from the back side of the house, to the power pole. Then, he'll schedule the actual work, which will involve a ditch witch, moving of wires & equipment, etc, but the bottom line is, they CAN, in fact, rig me up some kind of outdoor phone jack which I can plug into from my RV, once the home has been hauled outta here, so my actual downtime for phone & internet shouldn't be more than a few days!

STILL no help whatsoever, dealing with all this stuff, but at least I've had SOME good news today! :-D

Okay, here's what I've been concentrating on for the last couple of days....

I'm only working on the cold lines. They were busted in 5 places, & NONE were easy to get at! Just trying to get cold-water-only to both sinks & the toilet. The hardest part was getting the hose fished around behind the bathtub! OH MY GOSH, I thought I'd NEVER get it! That was the biggest part of the time spent today, taking prolly more time than everything else combined, but after 2 days of sweatin' it out out there, here's where I'm at:

Absolutely at my wits end over this thing! Total mileage, just over 180 miles. Total gas cost (just for TODAY ALONE) $38. Gave him $17 for working on it, which was every last dollar I had. His neanderthal friend bent & then broke my fuel line, trying to straighten it, so off I went to town to buy replacement parts, for $13 more (charged on the credit card, cuz now I'm penniless).
Hey, at least one good thing happened....
The pressure test on my cob-job water-line repairs.

First time I hit it with garden hose pressure, I had a leak, sure enough, but only one, as far as I could tell. That in itself was a miracle!

Turns out, I hadn't completely tightened the hose clamps on that particular spot, so after torquing them down & turning the hose on again, NO LEAKS!

...so far.

Fat lotta good it's gonna do me though, if I can't get the stupid thing running so I can at least move it close enough to use the septic tank, phone jack, & power outlet after the house leaves.

Joey it sounds like what ever is blocking fuel didn't get cleaned out on the rebuild. Did you blow air through all the ports when it was apart?

Please take a picture of the top of the carb(close up) and post it so I can see it.
Also look down the throat of the carb with flashlight. Then pump the throttle a few times and see if you see gas spraying into the engine.
That will give me an idea where to start.
Thanx, Sid. Will do. Maybe tomorrow. Right now, light is waning.

We had no air to work with, but I did buy carb cleaner, & he soaked all the parts. Everything appeared to me to be clean & dry when he assembled it. (Or ATTEMPTED, I should say) It was ultimately finished by my brother at a shop in town, but he didn't tear it back down. All he did was finish the job my buddy couldn't complete.

Also, there was a spring left over that my buddy couldn't figure out the location for, so he left it laying there. After I took him home, I came back & finished the job (he STILL hadn't completely finished it), & as for the left-over spring, since it was the same LENGTH as the other one, but bigger diameter, I put it over top of the other spring, in other words, the skinny spring is now INSIDE the fat one, so they're BOTH acting as throttle-return springs. I don't know if that's right, it's just my guess, cuz as I mentioned, I didn't even see him take all this stuff apart! I don't see any other place it can go, though.

Oh, almost forgot.... he DID use a paper clip to clean out the "jets" I think it was? Does that sound right?

And no, it's not squirtin' any gas in there when I pump it. It just won't pick it up, or fill up, or whatever.

If I EVER get this piece of crap running, I'm gonna sell it for whatever I can get, & buy me a small tagalong to live in. If I don't at least get it RUNNING, nobody will ever take it off my hands, cuz nobody's gonna buy something they have to tow home. During the interem, I can stay in my little cargo coversion, but that's gonna be absolutely BRUTAL, with even less facilities than this ol' dinosaur Class C! Not to mention, it's only a 5x8!

Anyway, I'll take a couple pics tomorrow. Thanx, Sid!
