Thanx, Brian!

WMH, your story mirrors mine so closely it's unreal, except for the kids part. However, I do have a brother & sister who won't help me at all, even for money, which I've offered MANY times.

Thanx, JosephusMinimus! Good info!

Well, with only 5 days remaining to the deadline, the preacher showed up today. First person who's been here to help me in 2 1/2 weeks. He & I got a GOOD bit done, too! At long last, I'm closing in on the finish line, & it looks like I'm gonna make it, at least as far as TIME. However, as far as ROOM, not so much. There's definitely gonna be a good bit of stuff left over that simply won't fit in my barn, & at this point, nobody's gonna be back to help, either.

Including today, I've only had help a total of 5 days out the past 7 1/2 weeks, but I'm thankful for it, especially TODAY, cuz if the preacher hadn't showed up today, I DEFINITELY would NOT have made it. Not only was there still too much stuff to move by myself in the remaining 5 days, but there were several large items I simply COULDN'T move by myself.

From here on out, I'm on my own, but I think I can manage. The little barn is darn close to being jam-packed full, & once it finally is (prolly by day's end tomorrow), I'll be hauling the rest off in my truck, unless one of the local charities will come after it.

Then, THE 8 WEEKS OF MOVING WILL FINALLY BE OVER!!!!!

Really glad to hear that your preacher was able to help you today! That's awesome!! Hopefully, in the very near future, we can swap happy stories about how great it is to be free of the burdensome trappings that once seemed so necessary. I'm looking forward to that!
Me too, WMH, me too!

With only 4 days now remaining, I gave it the ol' college try again today, working solo as usual, but really put forth a strong effort, working till I was in so much pain I simply couldn't go another step. Trying my best to wrap this up ASAP.

At long last, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel! I just hope it's not a train!

After today's Herculean effort, amazing as it seems, if I can stand another day like today, I believe I can actually finish TOMORROW, 3 days AHEAD of the deadline!

In other good news, just in time, I got one of the deacons out here today to re-wire my well pump to the new power pole in my back yard (to which I managed to get the power turned back on just a few days ago), so now, there'll be no interruption in my electricity & water supply when the house power gets shut off in a few days.

Plus, the phone/internet guy is supposed to be here tomorrow to rig up an outside phone jack on the side of my little barn, so after he gets that done, all I have to do is make a journey to town & buy a L-O-N-G phone cord to reach from the RV to the barn, & I'll have uninterrupted phone/internet service as well!

If all goes as planned...

Yay!

"Ground control to Major Tom
Ground control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on
(Ten) Ground control (Nine) to Major Tom (Eight)
(Seven, six) Commencing countdown (Five), engines on (Four)
(Three, two) Check ignition (One) and may God's (Blastoff) love be with you!"
Yay is right! Things went very well today, although I STILL didn't get finished in the house, cuz I had too many other things to do.

Luckily, the phone guy showed up early, so that was a TREMENDOUS help! After he left, I took off. Had to make the 7-mile run to the dump to drop off a HUGE load of garbage & stuff that had been accumulating during this whole ordeal, along with a whole lotta stuff that just simply had to be thrown out now that I'm down to the "11th hour". There was so much stuff, I BARELY got it all in the back of my truck!

Then, it was off in the opposite direction, to town, to pick up a long phone wire, a VERY FEW groceries, & one of those plastic drawer units to cram in the RV for a tiny bit more storage. Stupid little 5-drawer plastic unit was over 30 BUCKS!!!!

Then, there was banking business, eating a bite, a few other stops, & by the time I got home it was nearly dark. Had to really rush & move the RV closer to the pole, still had to drill an access hole to run the phone line, bring the answering machine, phone, & wireless router out from the house, hook it all up, & hold my breath....

AND IT WORKS!!!! YAY!!!! And I'm back online with phone & internet within an hour of getting home. I now have electricity, phone, & internet in the RV, but no water or sewage hookups yet. Won't have those till the house leaves & I can park the RV where the house presently sits.

Oh yeah, I finally got my brother to come over & cobble a temporary carburetor of his own on the RV, which got it started. It's not DRIVEABLE by ANY means, but it WILL start & move. Had to pay him 50 bucks just to do that. He took my carb with him. He's SUPPOSED to tear it down & see what my buddy who "rebuilt" it did wrong, then bring it back. I'll prolly end up having to pay him ANOTHER 50 bucks just to finish the job. That's usually what happens when I HIRE him to do anything for me.

Thanx, Bob!
You're exactly right.

...on BOTH counts!

Only 3 days left, but one of those is a Sabbath, so really,
only 2 days left, but I'm pretty sure I can finish up tomorrow!

Well, today's my deadline day. It ended up taking EVERY SINGLE DAY of the 8 1/2 weeks I had available to get 'er done, but I got 'er done!

What I thought was gonna be an easy final day of about an hour or 2 of work remaining to be done, ended up being 5 hours! Glad I started early! Of course, that's Murphy's 2nd law, "Everything Takes Longer Than U Think".

And wouldn't U know it? After bustin' my butt to get done in time (BARELY), the takers send me an email saying they prolly won't be moving the home till late next week. Doesn't that figure? That's okay though, I'm just glad it's FINALLY, FINALLY over, after killing myself for 2 solid MONTHS!

At this point, I can't wait to see the house leave the property, especially since my RV is parked only about 20' from the back side of the darn thing, & I can't see anything but a solid wall when I look out. Plus, I'm anxious to get the RV parked where the house presently sits, so I can hook up water, sewage, etc, & finally be done with this nightmare once & for all.

I guess my "Dilemma" is over, but now the daunting task of working on the RV begins, which is complicated by the fact that it's now so gobbed off with stuff piled everywhere, I can barely move. How on earth I'm gonna manage it is beyond me, but at least I'll be working on MY schedule, without a deadline to meet.

Congrats! Knew you could do it!
Loco

You'll get it done Joey. Congrats on getting step 1 done.

Wow, Joey! Talk about close to the deadline... but you did it.

You had no way of knowing the buyers schedule would change, but it doesn't matter.

Now with time to think, you can make a prioritized list and knock off things one at a time, until you are finally settled in.

Congrats,
Bob

Now that you have time on your hands, maybe you can sell some of your stuff using Craigslist or Ebay. At least you have time which was your lacking point before. Good Luck Joey...you're doing good!
Rae

Thanx, Loco! And thanx for being a good friend since way before any of this began! Your supportive emails have always been welcome!

Thanx, Seraphim! That's exactly how I see it, too! Step 1 is finally complete! I guess step 2 will be to try to get the ol' dinosaur RV as livable as possible. Then, a new spare tire for the little cargo conversion camper to replace the one that exploded in the sun a couple months back, & then....

ROAD TRIP!

Thanx, Bob! Yeah, I cut it close alright! Originally, when I signed the contract with the takers, giving me 2 months to be out, I actually thought (& HOPED) I'd be done in about 6 weeks, & I'd be able to "coast" the last couple of weeks, & relax & enjoy my last couple weeks in the home, but no such luck. It's a miracle I made it in the allotted time, given the fact that through it all, I only had help for 5 days, & in the end, I ended up working right up through the FINAL DAY for just over 5 hours to complete it all!

Rae, I'm already workin' on that angle! As a matter of fact, I already have a bunch of stuff loaded in the back of my truck right now. Gonna haul it off one day this week & try to have a yard sale at a friend's house who lives alongside a main road. Maybe I'll have better luck than I did here. And yeah, in time, I plan to try to unload some more stuff via Craigslist & eBay again. Right now though, I'm workin' on getting this ol' RV habitable. I have MUCH work to do!

The plus side of the takers delaying taking the home away is that it gives me a few more days of hot running water for showers, use of toilet/bathroom facilities, use of the washer & dryer, & an easy way to wash dishes! So believe me, I'm gonna use the facilities as long as I can!

Congratulations Joey, It's been a long hard ride but you succeeded.
