Seeking a beginner friend too.   Also anyone knowledgeable.  The more I learn the more I realize I don't know. So, this is my plan... I want to buy a shuttle bus to convert.  I will be full timer and I do crafts and I need my plants (tomatoes, lettuce, ginger, whatever veggies). I am currently in and a resident of AZ.  I am disabled and won't be driving far at a time.  I am also on limited income. I don't know much about free parks nor do I comprehend the idea of the best states to set as my domicile (I watched the video).  I know nothing about rules of converting a shuttle to an RV or which states are the best.  I would love to chat with someone ::)

Welcome Vantell to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you. it's best to ask individual questions in the appropriate sub forum this will get you the most answers. BTW California will confiscate your plants at the border. highdesertranger

Welcome aboard!  I'm a newbie too.

My advice is to come up with some specific questions and post them in the appropriate sub-forums here;  e.g., Miscellaneous Vehicles, Parking: Stealth in towns, Boondocking in the country , etc.  You'll find a lot of helpful people and advice.

Yes, thanks ::). I'm just not fully sure what my questions are yet :/.  I'm currently in a camper in an RV park.  I will be in my new ride within 60 days I think...  excited :)

Do you mean you A) need to each fresh veggies or B) want to find a way to grow fresh veggies from your rig?

:D I"m personally quite curious how to achieve "B" since I would love to do the same thing!

Oh I willllll grow veggies.  I already have it planned out.  I will get a bunch of used cedar chests and sew cushions for them.  I will have them on wheels that have the little brakes.  The will sit under the windows.  But, I will have a "console" table over it.  The table top will have circle holes to put my pots in.  The cedar chest will fit under them. The table will be bolted down.   If I need extra seating I pull the benches out.  I also plan on buying poles.  Probably use steel pipes and screw into those circle things that have 4 holes.  I will use plummers tape or huge washers to hold pots or jars on the pole at different heights.  Herbs... I also am planning on a lemon and an orAnge dwarf tree plus a moringa tree. Dwarfed... I'm even thinking about a Victorian bird cage with a couple quail.  Eggs....

:) I am new too. I watched for about a month - all of Bob's videos on YouTube at least once and Jamie's Enigmatic stuff - and who ever they were linked to. I made a note of the 'items' (and the brands they recommended) I would like to get. I made a list of their Youtube videos I want to revisit. ie camping in New Mexico. I visit this forum every day for a few minutes. Eventually you will get it all covered. Lots of questions will be answered. I still find new info every day! So thanks to all for that.
I am excited for you. It will be awesome. Cheers Estelle.

There are no rules: Grin
you be the rules, you convert, you decide, you make mistakes, you learn (I hope)

The rules that were referred to are the individual state rules on what constitutes an RV and what does not.

In addition to the complexity of the state regulations there is also a problem with insurance that is entirely dependent on which company one tries to get insurance from. Even insurance companies that normally insure RVs have special rules when it comes to DIY RV conversions.

Before anyone goes off buying  shuttle or school bus or anything really, that they are intent on converting to an RV, it is really important to figure out what the rules are for the jurisdiction that you are going to be titling that vehicle in.

Welcome, Vantell--
Your veggie-growing scheme sounds awesome, not to mention delicious ! You have really thought all that through, with great precision.
I find this so inspiring....
Me, too, on the need for veggies...I like sprouting sunflower seeds for instant "salad" that you can then add some shredded carrot, beet, whatever else you enjoy eating.

Please let us know as you start materializing your dream vehicle, step by step....We're here to cheer you on!
