I joined the site to gain, and eventually share, knowledge and experiences. I'm not going to be living full time in my vehicle ( fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view ) I'm converting my Ford Expedition ( 2000 ) into a dry camping vehicle so that I can spend isolated and care free weekends away with just my pooch for company.

My truck conversion is coming along quite nicely, it's my winter project..here's a breakdown of what's going on:

I've removed all but the drivers seat. Installed kitchen counter tops ( with sink and plumbing in the rear, and built shelves and storage under them. I've installed sub floors so that the level from the back of the truck to the front is even...this is where I have enough room to stretch out for sleep ( I'm 6'2" ). Underneath the sub floor is room for more storage.

I'm building a custom box on top to house a 21 gallon water tank and other peripherals. The tank will feed to my sink and also feed an outdoor shower. Blackout curtains throughout.

Connected to the top box with also be my tarp awning, for when I'm not "stealthing"

I've removed the spare wheel underneath the back of the truck and have built a battery box to accommodate 2x 6V deep cycle batteries, to go there. When I need quiet power I'll use the batteries, and for when sounds are permissible I'll use the generator ( Honda eu2000i )

I haven't taken any pics yet, but I will, and then post them.

Thanks to the moderators for running the site and thanks to everyone else for participating...

- Tony.
