Hello everyone.

I am so excited about finding Bob's videos on youtube and joining this forum.
I think it won't be long b4 my husband I give the nomad life a try. I am furiously watching
The how-to videos and eating up all the great ideas for DIY projects :) My husband does
Tollerate heat & humidity at all (anything higher than 80*F makes him misserable). How
Many state parks allow nomads to camp for free? Happy trails to you all.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

Happy to hear you find such joy in all of this.   Good advice posted here for you too.
As it's spring and summer draws nearer, you and your husband may want to consider higher elevation camping areas. It may be cooler and
less humid there. Travel early in the morning and later in the evening when it's cooler.

Let me invite you to check out my websites below as they were designed for those new to this way of life.

Welcome aboard Moley!
The free campsites site will be your best friend.
Many of us migrate up and down in altitude to maintain comfy temps.
If you're more into traveling migrate from north to south and back works too.

You can camp free in most of your national forests. State Park usually ask anywhere from $5 to $20 and night or more sometime but not National Forests

This is completely untrue. Have never seen a state park less than $30 a night. Maybe you are talking about the PRIMITIVE CAMPING area in many state parks. All require you to have a tent you set up and might be near the $20 you are mentioning. Typically no bathroom services are available nearby. No trash pickups, no campfires.

Or are you talking state forest areas? That's different too. Each state forest might also have PRIMITIVE CAMPING designated areas, that are free or a small fee. Again no bathroom, and no trash pickup. Carry in/ carry out.

State parks, state forests, national parks and national forests are all different 'animals', each with their own rules, pricing and facilities.

Do not mix up the 4. AT ALL.

It also depends on where in the country you are as to what there is available.

National forests even as far west as Missouri have very little to offer in the way of free camping. But they do have inexpensive camping.

I just stayed in a campground in Missouri in the Mark Twain National Forest that had non-electric sites that were $8.00 a night if you didn't have a National Park pass. Finding free dispersed camping in the east that you can drive to, as opposed to backpacking, can be quite a challenge.

I haven't found a state park yet that actually required me to set up a tent. I use them when I have no other choice because I much prefer dispersed camping in the national forests. 2nd choice is national forest campgrounds.

I've also stayed in state forests at very low (below $12.00 a night) rates.

Freecampsites.net is your friend. And if you're travelling, use their trip planner, it's great for locating campsites!
