Not exactly what I wanted to do for or yearly getaway without kids for our anniversary. Were taking kids, and missing the anniversary. Oh well, at least I wont get lost, lol, know the way by heart now. 8 days, 7 nights, 2000 miles round trip, " camping" in a friends backyard BUT I held out for 2 days and a night on a mountain trail, so all hope is not lost. Will post pics as I can, and regale you all (y'all) with my tales when I return.

Harriman exit on thruway?!?

Nah, heading for catskill and albany

The drive went well, stopped in Stauton, Va. for the night and made it to Catskill around 5 pm Sat. started raining as we hit the Ny state line, and hasnt quit yet, forecasted through wed afternoon :'( Church this am, then supposed to meet up with ny sons later. Hope it clears up for hiking on wed and thurs. Pics to follow?

Have a great time Les.....glad you could get away for a spell...howz the bus running?
Bri

The bus is fine , Bri. Its back in alabama , waiting for us to return. We have the blazer with our camping gear this time. The bus will go out in a when we head up into Kentuck in a couple weeks.
BLK, hopi.g it will dry out enough to get some hiking and campi.g in. Ill know tomorrow, aas there is a slightly lower chance of rain and thunderstorms.
Edit- spell check still not working, huh?

have a great time. it's beautiful. so much great forest up there.
and the adirondaks are amazing if you feel like driving 3 more hours.

Thinker, i grew up and spent most of my life here. It is beautiful, and the Adks are great, but no time for the extra drive this visit.

I'm jealous. Hope the rain subsides and you have a great time.

Some of yesterdays scenery-
No not my bus, another one just like it bought by a day camp.
The lump in the center is known as "Vroman's nose"

Ok,a couple days on the trails and a night in the tent . We were at about 2700' and the peaks top out around 4000, so some very nice scenery. Didnt see or hear a soul for two days, not even a scrap of litter. Very quiet and peacefull (without kids---- oops , is that in writing?)

A few more. The odd blue tent pic was supposed to be a butterfly that landed, but it didnt come out

A few more. Sorry for the repeats, im loadi.g lhem as jpeg files without being able to see the actual pic. im better at campin than computerin.

Still more. The head shot is for Bri, Bk2valve. :0P

Will try to post more pics with better 3g or wifi
