Good morning. TA, my kind of weather. 72 this morning and rain. This is the roller coaster time of year for weather here.

Got my van over to a shop to get the front brakes fixed. Sticking caliper on the right front. I have supposedly had the calipers (and brake hoses) replaced twice already.

They are going to look into my coolant loss and hot soak hard start problem. New intake gasket and injectors pluss all the other hard to get to stuff while they are in there I am sure $$$$.

Time for you to check in Dean. Haven't heard from you in awhile.

Good morning all! I. Have been prospecting on the Mexican border the past couple of days. Found a few flakes of rough gold. Which is a good sign.  Scouted last night and found a very promising site. Going to take a few samples today after I finish my Sammich and Cofee.

Currently 55 degrees and NOT raining in OR, with highs this week in the 60's. Not getting colder till next week so more time to appreciate fall in the Columbia River Gorge. BTW, METEOR SHOWER TONIGHT if you have clear skies tonight give us your shooting star count. Supposed to be extra special if two people see the same shooting star. How would we know? Weather report says flood watch warnings for tonight thru tomorrow night. I am not on a river but it does make it difficult to want to get stuff done outside with that much rain in the forecast.

My errand out today was to buy another length of steel tubing for making a new frame for my travel trailer. The piece my friend designed and cut for mounting my trailer stabilizer jacks was a a tiny bit too short. A custom angle will be needed rather than the 45 degree he initially chose. No big deal, I was able to buy a remnant length to remake the parts. All should be ready to go to the welder for assembly on Weds if he is available.

The error was really my fault as it took me several days to find where I had stashed those jacks so he was working from the dimensions given on a website page. That very small difference between what the website said and the real parts were created an interference. Good thing I found those jacks before the pieces went to the welder. So a ten buck penalty for me

I went to the local book club meeting this morning, at the deli. You know how I like books . . . they are reading The Goldfinch. 700 pages. I'll get an audiobook version.

Got my van disconnected from the cargo trailer today, finally, and took a short drive. All drives in this town are short . . . unless you want to go out of town, and then you can put some miles on.

Warm today. I'm planning to spend the winter here so my apologies to all who I would otherwise have met. Anyone wanting to come travel the Klamath River Highway? Looks like I'll be here for a while. I just got a PO Box this morning.

Maki how long till you can take off?  What are your plans?

It will be several months before my wrist is even close to being self sufficient with tools to finish the build. When the time comes I will head south most likely along the Oregon Coast and down 101 in California then over to Arizona.

Maki do you have to complete your build before you go? Why not just take your stuff and hit the van build? Shoot lots of people throw in a cot and cooler and away they go!!

Come on down for the winter and look me up! I’ll take you out in the desert on my puttputt to see the cool sites!

It is much easier to finish the build here at the industrial workshop space where I have a vast assortment of tools and materials right at hand. There are also all the supply stores I need. West Marine is literally only a few steps away from me. Great hardware stores in the neighborhood too as well as metal suppliers, lumber yards, plumbing, electrical supply shops, sheet metal fabricators. I share the space with my best friend and his dog, (technically it is his space) so I have a helper when I need one but of course he can't devote all his time to my project he has to do paying projects for his clients. My friend Don and his dog at lunch break today, he had been downstairs drilling the bolt holes in the steel tubes for my new trailer frame. I am not much help with doing heavy drilling into steel at the moment.  The frame parts are all cut and drilled and we will take them to the welder's shop tomorrow, that will be fun. I will be able to paint it while it is indoors at this place. Not something I could easily do in the gritty windy desert. The old frame would not have made it that far anyway.

I appreciate the thought and if I was truly in crisis I would do something such as that.

As to going to the van build. I would be keeping someone who does not have the skills, tools or a place to work from getting help there if they were helping me.

I have the skills, I have the tools, I have a place to do the work and I have a helper who pitches in with things it takes 2 people to do. I just need to be patient for another 2 months while my hand to heals and then I will be able to get it finished. But in the meantime I do have quite a lot of task I should be able to begin tackling this next week. Lots of fiddly bits to do.

Going off road might not work out too great for me. I am not allowed to do any impact activities. What a wuss that back injury when I was 35 made of me.

Maki I don’t get it but the puttputt actually helps my back. Maybe the constant rocking or something? I had to learn to relax the muscles back there instead of tensing up when I would see a bump or something. I was sore for a couple of days at first but then started to feel better. My back really sucks but the puttputt is ok.

It only goes as fast as you want it to anyway and most of the trails are pretty good.

There are cool old things out in the desert. Old mines, petroglyphs and just pretty areas that are nice to look at. I stay busy with my rock and quilt club but still try to take every new person in camp at least out to a nearby petroglyph and cave.

Anyone else want to go out I will take you if you will be anywhere in the Quartzsite area. I can find you. I stay busy but I will make time.

I definitly plan on visiting the YARC camp sometimes this winter of 2020. It will be easy to spot me when I do show up, I am not driving around in a plain white wrapper and am not in the least stealthy

Bright red with black trim car and trailer matching that color scheme. it won't be hard to spot.

Hello and good morning.. waking up in Happy Camp again. I have to admit this place gives me a sense of euphoria once I get through the cold morning hours.

Yesterday I took a walk up the steepest hill in town and was excited it didn't tire me out. First time I walked up that hill about 15 years ago, I remember having to stop and rest several times. I think my visits to Anytime Fitness in Idaho the last few months helped.

SE... thanks for the idea to use Hotlogic Mini as a personal heater ... this is making my mornings so much better... I'm warming up my hands and breakfast at the same time.

It's great isn't it?! I used mine to pre-warm my bed at night for a little bit too. It stays warm a while even after you unplug it. Glad my tip helped!
