I found the 2 ouncer with a Fisher CZ6a the first time I went up there. The 2nd time I went up, it was with an MXT and, sadly, the largest I found was a 1 oz nugget.
Right now I have 2 detectors, an MXT pro and a White's TDI. ..Willy.

Would any of y'all that are experienced at gold prospecting consider taking an apprentice? I'd like to see if it's something I like doing before I shell out a lot of money on equipment. Something like I would work with you for a pre-agreed upon amount of time. All gold that is found is yours. Basically free labor in exchange for learning.

Hey BamaDuke, which brand and model wash plant did you use?

I can't remember the model off hand, we've had it about 5 years and have heavily modified it. I do remember it came out of Michigan. Or Minnesota. Or one of those far northern M states LOL. It can handle 3 yards a day, if I recall. Since I (nor any of my seven closest friends) can shovel that much, we take their word for it.

Right now, we're planning a trip to the claim (120 miles North of El Paso) for Sept. Probably late Sept. TxGypsy, or anyone else for that matter, is free to meet us. You can dig as long as you want (we usually quit after a week), and we will cut you in for a share of whatever we find. We usually stay at Truth or Consequences in a really old hotel that is $185 a week, but there are several RV parks closer, and we keep all the equipment at an RV park in locked storage. It's just cheaper to drive out and use the hotel than pay for gas in the RV and pay for the RV space. The claim is on BLM land, and if you wanted you could camp on it. No water for a ways, but a nice RV park 12 miles away where you could pay for a night and fill up with water and get a shower.

Send me a PM if anyone is interested. I usually check this thing in the afternoon.

Bama
