I am in a special situation at the moment that will allow me to seize the opportunity to start my own scrap gold buying business. I am just in the researching stage, but in the long term, once I move into my camper van, I'll take the business mobile. I cannot wait!

I have a cousin who got rich in the scrap metal business...not gold, but copper, steel, tin etc. Lots of people selling manuals and opportunities and HOW TO books on the gold buying biz...of course every jewelry store and pawn shop now actively advertising they buy gold. I'm sure this is a VERY viable business but wonder how you'll handle "security" as maybe the biggest issue, being a mobile biz...the bad guys will all know what you're doing and where and the fact you'll be stock full of gold????<br><br>If it's not divulging any trade secrets can I ask how you arrived at this business?? Did you buy into one of the myriad biz opps manuals for sale on the internet?? Is this something you were already familiar with?? How will you operate differently from all the storefront competition??<br><br>Lots of questions, but you put it out there....and it's a big country so I guess it wouldn't hurt to divulge any of this, unless somebody else on the forum is thinking of doing this too and lives right up your butt close by....doubtful.<br><br>Anyway, good luck to you. I am always most interested in DEPRESSION era and MOBILE business ideas!!!!<br><br>Dust<br><br>

Hey Dust,&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>Funny thing, I RARELY watch t.v but caught a glimpse of the show "Gold Rush - Bering Sea" and I thought to myself, why don't they just buy gold from other people and sell it. This was two weeks ago, I hadn't even heard of the scrap gold buying business at that point lol.</div><div><br></div><div>I googled it and the rest is history. Now, I'm just learning all I can on how to get started. I will have several thousand dollars coming to me here soon in the next month or so and will use that to start my business, after I've done my due&nbsp;diligence&nbsp;of course.</div><div><br></div><div>Security will be handled a number of ways. I will purchase a gun, and as far as "bad guys" I will avoid that situation by meeting with my customer in public places, and hosting gold parties.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>I won't have a store front starting off, so I plan to offer mobile service, where I come to my customer, instead of them having to come to me. That is something I'm sure the pawn shops aren't doing.</div><div><br></div><div>I also plan to make a website for my services, I've found a guy name Greg online who runs www.scrapgolduniversity.com (as you can see his site isn't full page of text and flashy stuff, it's plain information, unlike those other ones) He has an awesome youtube channel with TONS of information. I may join his university to learn more, he seems very honest and legit compared to all those kinds of sites you mention that I've seen myself.</div><div><br></div><div>Like him, I plan on NEVER scamming my customers as I live my life with integrity and will give them the best price I can on their gold. I love situations where everyone wins <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle">.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>If you have any more questions, please let me know. I don't mind sharing this info. This country is indeed big, and even though a ton of people are getting into this industry, I am sure there is room for more.&nbsp;</div>

I know the area I plan to do business has over 300k people in (between Oceanside, Vista, and Carlsbad, CA) so I think there's still plenty of customers out there. I cannot wait to get started!

<p style="margin: 0px;">Good luck, from your demeaner on this site and your picture, you are very handsome-if thats you <img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif">.(just kidding about it bing you)&nbsp; You will do well having gold buying parties hosted.&nbsp; You need to hit the exclusive spas to talk up your service.</p><p style="margin: 0px;"><font color="#ff00ff"><b>Dragonfly</b></font></p>

<div><br></div><div>Thank you for the compliment (that is me btw <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"> ) I love your idea about hitting up the spas, that's one thing I love about the internet, so many people can swap ideas, it's like a&nbsp;cornucopia&nbsp;of streaming knowledge and consciousness! I cannot wait to have gold parties; if there's one thing I can do, is have parties and be social!</div><div><br></div><div>Nice food, nice wine, my customers getting PAID. What's not to love about attending? I'm too excited!</div>

After you have bought the scrap gold, who do you sell it to for a profit?

Sounds interesting. Good luck with this new business.

You find a gold refinery you can trust, that'll give you the best price for them to buy the gold from you and smelt it down. A good refinery will only charge you like 2-4% maybe 5, if you can't find any others who will go lower.

<p>If Gold is your hearts desire, then go for it.&nbsp; Maybe it will be a good learning lesson for you.&nbsp; </p>
