Is anybody else gonna binge on some Game Of Thrones over Christmas ???????
The last season starts in April.
HBO is offering a 7 day free trial and you should be able to catch up in 7 days!!
Get some of you together and do the marathon!
This is the BEST EVER Story ever told!!
I am 60 years old and I have NEVER been entertained like this series!!!!
Everybody is going to be busy with Christmas!
Escape, If you order this everybody will miss you but you will be in another world !!!!

I never start any series until they stop producing it.

Absolutely hate having to wait for more to come out, prefer, once and done.

Just finished MASH, took a while

This is the coolest show i've ever seen. I'm starting Season 1 Episode1 Right now. Looks like they are billing me 15.00. That's like really cheap!

I made the mistake of getting into it before the series was finished. Now I can't wait for the final season to come out.

I read the book a few years back and they have certainly done it justice.

Less than a month until the final season! #squeal :D
I'll probably have to wait a while before I see it, but I'm still excited. :)

NON spoiler mini review:

Cons:
Gratuitous soft porn. Some of it is relevant to the overarching plot, however they overdid it. This is otherwise the sort of thing that's thoroughly enjoyable to watch with friends, but the porn would make that awkward for some. The last couple of seasons were much better on that count.
Torture in one of the early seasons. It's very relevant to the story, and is done in short batches.
Lots of violence, throughout the series, with some gratuitous closeups. Again, the series is about war & violence, so it's largely relevant, just some goes over the top.
Bottom line:  definitely not appropriate for children & many teens.

Pros:
Real character growth that's both profound and believable, including several characters who start as despicable and believably choose better paths.
Superb cast, writing, and, well, everything!
Pretty much no "bad" language (does have lots of "potty" talk).

If you have access to a Library, you should be able to get all the previous seasons on DVD (that's how I've seen it).

SPOILERS:
Two weeks ago, one of the principal male characters did an excellent interview with Stephen Colbert:

It's 12:23 (minutes.seconds) long. If you have the bandwidth and are a fan, it's thoroughly enjoyable, IMO. :)

Do not watch unless you've seen all the previous years (there's one monstrously huge spoiler, and several small ones).
Note there's some brief comparison to contemporary politics, however it's done in a thoughtful manner. :)

MMM...Can't get enough, Riviting!
Also netflix series Marco Polo

JD, you may not have noticed it, but Mrs G probably has a secondary shrine, and she will particularly enjoy that YT interview clip. ;)

P.S. When are you going to post a full size pic of your Avatar's dire wolf pup?

Damn; I know what you mean! I can't remember a lot of things about 3 or 4 mos. ago . Hopefully it will come back to me.
I'm tempted to wait for it to come out as a season on BluRay but I don't know if i can wait that long!!

+1 :)
Even more critical with the final season and the risk of spoilers.
My tentative plan is either:
find a fan with a Big Dang Screen, and wrangle an invite;
or wait until right after the last ep, find a Library with rocking wifi and see if HBO still has the free 7-day trial. :)

Season 7 ended 2017-Aug-27 and the first Bluray release was 2017-Dec-12.
I expect it would be a similar wait.

So... who's going to host a marathon?!? :D
I promise to bring Cheese and SPAM! :)

I love the series too. I'm currently in season 5 watching the whole thing again
from the beginning. I was surprised to see the entire series on VOD!

Two eps left, so a Grand Update on my Plan...

I've got two invites, but both are more gas away than I expect the entire series on DVD will cost.
Am now within two gallons of gas of two Libraries with rocking wifi, so that's the more likely plan.

Only thing I need to know is whether HBO still has the 7-day trial. :)

... that, and what cable I need to connect my very old "Roku LT" to either my portable DVD player or an old VGA LCD monitor. :)

P.S. A curse of Dragon Fire upon anyone who posts spoiler(s)!!!

P.P.S. If you like dragons, I highly recommend the Dragonriders of Pern series of books, by Hugo Award winner Anne McCaffrey. :)
She started writing them in the late 1960s, and did complete all the main arcs (unlike somebody else).
They also have strong female characters, but much less violence/sexual-pornograpy. I started reading them in grade 9, and missed my bus/etc more than once while engrossed in them. :)
I'm hoping they'll be made into a TV series.

Thanks Brian! :)
Hmmm... almost. I'd also have to buy an HDMI cable (the Roku LT's HDMI port is female).
There's probably an equivalent gadget with HDMI male instead of female. (oh, that is sooooo GoT-y!)

A cable to the portable DVD player would be better long term, since that's already part of my standard load out.
The DVD player's manual doesn't identify the port as anything other than "AV IN", and I could not find any info on what that means. Spent about an hour yesterday digging thru port pictures, trying to find a match.

It looks like an RCA port (i.e. definitely not s-video (no pins at all)), but is a little bit bigger.
The RCA male ends of my Roku's a/v cable fit mildly loosely into them.
The "a/v" 3.5mm end of that cable is a little bit larger than the port.

This morning, I emailed the manufacturer for more info. Others have asked my question, on Amazon & elsewhere, so it's in their best interests to share. :)

With the Roku having an HDMI port, I figured (wrong I guess) that you had an HDMI cable to use.

The standard is a Yellow RCA port is video and the red and white ones are audio. No idea what you have though.

Brian, this would be easier with pictures. I'll take some soonish, and post as a separate question at the other forum. :)
(Though if anyone here has insight into this, or knows about the 7-day trial, please post.)

JD... LOL! Pern elsewhere... have/would you check to see if the HBO 7-day trial is still available?

I've been saving my Roku's trial for about 8 years, and the Khaleesi is worth it. :)

I suspect Monday (6 days from finale), we'll get some empirical reports from folks who have actually signed up... or weren't able to.
