On the Roku end of things...we still have an LT in the guest room, so I looked for you. The HDMI cable and the power plug is all you need. The rest of them are for the old 480 inputs (commonly called "RCA" plugs) yellow is video and red/white are for audio. Any new monitor should pull the audio right through the HDMI plug.

You know how I really learned all of this?

Thanks JD, however my portable DVD player (i.e. with built-in LED panel) has neither HDMI nor RCA inputs.
It's just a $45~ low end 9.5" Amazon China brand. It's also the perfect size for this van dweller, and I bought it a year ago (pre-engine-failures), so it's what I have.
I'm gratified that you grokked what direction of flow I'm aiming for.

It has two small female ports labelled "AV IN" and "AV OUT", and comes with an AV to RCA cable that's very similar to what the Roku LT's manual calls a "A/V cable RCA to 3.5mm" cable.

Both of the DVD player's "AV" ports look like headphone jack ports (i.e. female, small, no internal pins).

I've tried their tech support, and they replied very quickly, with very well meaning annoted pictures... showing how to connect the DVD player's output to a TV. #sigh#
I just sent off a reply, stating repeatedly what I'm actually looking for. My Brain is still in ChEnglish-patience Mode, so please bear with me.

My brain's been elsewhere... in da Forest, enjoying the Quiet, and Creating Code.

Today was town day, so I could get internet, gas, NFS maps, water, and food.
As I left the dollar store (only food store in the area), I had a Ygritte Moment...

... had a perfect view of an overcast sky with just that perfect light that makes it seem ominous & powerful, combined with a perfect Northern forestscape of scraggy bushes, birch & pine trees.
When that light hits the birch trees, it's a special Northern magic.
Perhaps one has to be a Northerner to grok that.
I instantly thought of Ygritte.
