I am trying to find where I can get one of these to install on my van when I eventually get it. I definately want a high top so I can stand up and have some more room.

Thanks in advance.

I had sportsmobile install one on mine, but with the proper layout, a VW slant top type work as well. Just scour the junkyard locator websites and Craigslist ads, and you'll find something to use as a top. Tell me this isnt classic:

http://redding.craigslist.org/cto/2493277793.html

Most importantly, make sure you have a sturdy suspension (i.e. sway bars front and/or rear, good springs, especially since it's 2-wheel drive and will be top heavy with a hi-top. I had a 1994 G20 high top conversion in mint condition (see attached). I put 5000lb air bags in the rear, Rancho RS9000's all around and it STILL swayed horribly on windy highways, to the point of selling it.

My 4-wheel drive Ford E-350 is a tank. With 1ton axles/drivetrain, there is basically zero swaying, even on turns. I also have the adjustable RS9000's on this one, but Bilstein is more popular for our kind of heavy rigs.
How much did it cost for Sportsmobile to install it? pretty expensive eh?

Yeah definately classic VW van lol.

I would love to get a 4x4 van at some point. Would be nice. In the distant future we shall see.

Its about 5k. Yea, Im crazy for putting it on a 97 with 200k miles on it, but its a Pathfinder Conversion, which used heavy duty stuff. I recently found a complete running V10 with 60k miles on it for 300 bucks. I plan on rebuilding it over the winter to have as a spare.

Have fun with it...

I don't think so. I would do the same thing to this van I am getting. Even if I have to continue fixing it up to half way decent condition, why not put the money in it. It will show...eventually.

Did you have to drive your van to one of their locations in texas I think it was? Or was it done locally?

Good find on the motor. Im not all that mechanically inclined..well I should say I am, just don't know my stuff. Plan on taking a course on Automotive Technology
