There's a new service in town. Dunno how long it will last, or how widespread it is - Too Good To Go.
It's an app, and in theory, you are buying food that a restaurant will otherwise throw away. Lots of choices here in suburb-land, most of them doughnuts, which I have so far resisted. But I have gotten 3 sides from California Fish Grill for $5, which is actual food, and pretty decent too.
