I've never seen this website mentioned but then again I have only been a member for a little less than a year. I always look around on craigslist and that seems to be the go to website for the members here. After comparing the two sites and what they have to offer I like carsdirect (even though it is a little harder to use) a little better than craigslist. The prices are comparable but the big difference is you are buying from a dealer vs an individual you don't know at all. I can always check reviews on these dealers and stick with the highly reviewed but can't do the same when buying from a private party.

Any thoughts? Very curious why I haven't seen this site mentioned before....

I've just never heard of it. I avoid craigslist anyway, for the reason you mentioned. I'd be interested in checking out carsdirect.com

I don't have any more faith in a dealer than I do in a private party.
You have to be careful in either case.
Check things top to bottom no matter who you chose to buy from.
Dealer or private only have one thing in mind....sell the rig.
Bottom line...its all on the buyer to cover their own butt.

T just to let you know the site is a little cumbersome to use but I found it's still worth looking at. BTW I checked your blog out and it looks great. I really liked that poem you put on it....and I'm not one who usually likes poems.

Never used it, but just checked it out. It looks good, user friendly, easy to navigate etc.

i just did a search for ford e series van less than $5000 and got nothing. on craigslist right now there are about 10-15 to choose from.

maybe that works on newer stuff, but not on older cheaper vans.

I used a ma price of 10K and a 150 mile radius and got 67 hits....about 15 under 5K.

Thanks, Vanman! I'm happy you enjoyed it!

Just type in "ford van". If you typed in "E series" you won't get any hits, nobody describes them that way.

If searching dealers I like cars.com better. The advanced search feature gives more choices. Plus you can vary how far out the search goes. Now how to figure out how to find a mechanic to inspect a van 400 miles away. I do have a local (and popular) used car dealer watching for a van for me. He typically carries newer vehicles but said he'd watch for one.

I checked out that carsdirect...maybe its this area but damn, all the mileages on stuff under 10k is insane 12 results for e150 and lowest miles is 92k

....for 5k there is a GAS 08 van with 439000 lol
