the highest temperature ever recorded in the world was 134° in Death Valley in 1913 over 100 years ago. highdesertranger

Pffft! Try spending time standing on a black tarmac in Al Khobar, Saudi Arbia in Late August, wearing old Vietnam-style boots that had the steel shank in the sole to deal with punji sticks. It's on the coast, so it's humid too.

I'll never forget when it hit 122 here in Phoenix back in 1991. I was riding my motorcycle on the freeway, and that dry air just sucked the moisture right out of me. I'd travel 5 miles, pull into a McDonalds, quaff down a cold Sprite and sit for 20 minutes in the air conditioning, then go another 5 miles, pull over again and repeat.

There are some folks who stay all summer at Slab City. That's not too far from DV and it gets to 120+.

Those temps might be responsible for poor decisions, LOL.
