Sorry again about font size having a bad vision day. So anyway my sis has a great time with it and I sometimes get some benefit too. She came home a few weeks ago with the coolest 6 pane window that was the old wood frame style and asked me if I wanted it (can't believe she even asked that). It now has a proud new home as the window cover above the sink in my little kitchen, of course it also is doing and added duty of holding my potholders and some old tyme kitchen gadgets that only I would still be using. The cool thing is I get to enjoy the light show and now I have a place to hang more items that were taking up much needed space in the drawers.
Then she has surprized us all by topping every other dumpster find I've heard of she found 63 pairs of NEW boots, they still have the tags on them. They were thrown out to make room for new christmas stock. We added the value on the tag up at 60 bucks a pair they are well over 3500.00. We have taken out a pair to fit everyone we know and as they are kids boots we intend to donate some to the local clothing bank where they will be free.
Needless to say when she is late coming home from work we all get excited waiting to see what she has found this time.

If you are at all interested in dumpster diving, the documentary Dive is available streaming from NetFlix.

Great score on the boots!

That was cool, fortunately we have gotten really good at canning our veggies we grow. I have mastered grama's applebutter recipe in a crock pot. And the neighbors know we can and freeze anything so they all donate their garden extra's to. We get fresh eggs from one of them also. We are the food pantry for the family (lol). We are crazy about coupons mix those with a store sale or better yet a grand opening and you can stock pile quite the pantry. We found 4lb bags of sugar on sale for 89 cents bought 2 cases, they has flour for 59 cents so we stocked up there. We all laugh because everyone in the family has figured out that we will see to it that mom and dad gets fed, not to mention anyone else we hear of that is having a hard time. I am also blessed in the fact that in the winter I am parked behind sissy's house (due to health they refuse to let me stay at river). I am most days the cheif cook and bottle washer in exchange for utilities. So I get to spend extra time on net seeking out more great coupons. Alot of company's will send you freebies for sending them a short note via email regarding their products.

Nice thread, Milly. Sounds as though you and your sister have found yourselves a satisfying niche in life some of your neighbors can be grateful for. Amazing, all those boots discarded for the landfill. Life's a strange place for human beings to find themselves.

That was a great article!!!!!! I wish all grocery stores and outlets would consider making a donation to their local food bank instead of throwing out perfectly good food. I have worked on several local food drives and found it to be a much needed event. There are also many other outlets for food restaurant's, Deli's, bakery's. Many of them will gladly donate their left overs instead of throwing them away, I have found as long as you make arrangements to have it picked up early in the day they are more than happy to help. In our state they are exempt from liability if they donate to a food bank or pantry.
