My, what a fancy pot to warm a can of soup.
I was thinking more along the lines of a small perc coffee pot from the thrift...remove the perc tower and away ya go.

Well for only $21 bucks, I can afford that type of fancy, haha! I'll let you know how it works out when I receive it. Yes, I also have multiple coffee makers and percolators, but the top mouth part aren't wide enough to fit a can of soup, at least not the ones I have.

Zil, you said:
"The field mess would have a 30 gallon can of boiling water with canned meals in the hot water. We would scoop a can for a pot luck type choice of diet. a hot can and a p38 was fun."

In my opinion, opening a can with a Walther P38 could be very messy. :D :D :p

here is another stick in your spokes of resisting dirty dishes, cooking with alluminium is linked to Alzheimer's, cans are lined with something, likely something that when overheated will kill you, not sure about the kill you part, you could google it, however it might be easier, safer, and environmentally friendlier to do the dishes, I usually do them twice a day. I find a certain calmness, a feeling of serenity in doing dishes, a satisfaction when stowing them away clean, it gives you an opportunity to clean other things like counters, window sills, fridges with the wet cloth, while you are at, it feeds the soul.;)

:)
Here is a link for you dodgers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-38_can_opener

Check back to my post Flying, Using boiling water, You can't heat canned soup higher than when it was processed. You can heat the cans closed in boiling water also. Just not in a camp fire. ;)

Washing dishes kept my hands clean when I worked as a mechanic.
