Let me put it this way, if you saw a trailer factory doing that, would YOU buy the trailer?

No, I wouldn't... but the only window I can fit between my ribs is about 12".  So, I WAS thinking about doing that.  Thanks for the feedback.  At this point now, I probably won't.  You make good point, there, KemoSabe!

If you took it to a local welder, and pulled back one aluminum sheet or maybe two, and protected it with a welding blanket, you could have them cut and weld to your heart's content...I would have no problem with that. You want the end result to be as strong, or stronger, than it started out, NOT weaker.

I thought about doing that on mine, but I compromised and went with 2 smaller windows. But again, my 6x12 trailer is NOT where I live, sleep, or cook.

Finally figured out how to add a photo! 

Anyway here's an example of what proper window framing looks like. I was very pleased to see 1x3 box steel all the way around the factory installed windows when I took the plywood off to insulate. I thought about saving a few bucks and installing the windows myself and am really glad I didn't. This way there's a warrantee.

I thought about saving a few bucks and installing the windows myself and am really glad I didn't. This way there's a warrantee.

I would have been willing to pay someone.  No one seemed to be interested when I wanted to do it.  (March?)  What one RV repair guy told me to do was to take it home and take it down to the metal.  I'm glad I did that.  Now I know what's under there.  

Thanks for the picture, that helps.  My thing is function over form.  So, My window works , but looks like crap.  I would like to put in a bigger window, but will be patient until all of the required expertise and $$$ line up.

Well, it wasn't a hard-fought decision.  I was quite willing to accept your leadership in that area of expertise.  You CERTAINLY know better than me!

Yep...I just did not want to be misunderstood by someone reading this later and cutting those vertical steel bars and inserting a piece of plywood, and later having something crack or break...you never know what can happen.

I ordered thru a dealer who sells the Continental Cargo brand. The trailer was built in Oregon. It took right at a month to completion. I was sold on the brand when I found out they offer a  3'x5' window!

I am 95% sure I am going to go with Weeroll. With my damaged wing, having a trailer that is insulated and finished inside and has electric is priceless. I will probably order in November/December for a March/April pick up.

Oh wow.  Yes, I bought a 6x12 Haulmark trailer last December.  I'm sorry, I do not have a build thread.  There ARE some pictures on my blog, which I have not been very good about keeping up to date.   I am living in it, and find it to be home.  It's small.  But I look forward to going home when I'm not there.  

I paid about $3300 for it, with trailer brakes.  I've gutted it, and added insulation to the walls.  A Fan-tastic vent, a window on the side , right by my bed; 235W solar panel, Renogy controller (40A), Renogy inverter (1000W) and 4 6v golf cart batteries, from Batteries Plus.  

Someday, I might start over from scratch, if I can afford it.  I learned a lot along the way and would do some things different.  Nothing major, just the order of things mainly.  It's kind of banged up and scratched up now.  I'm STILL learning how to drive it, especially backwards!  I'm a 1000 times better than a year ago, but still.... still learning.

It's mostly about my experiences becoming a nomad.  I've been remiss this last summer in keeping it up.  I WANT to do better, include some camping site reviews and such.  Equipment, how-to (at least the way I do it)... stuff like that.  It's important to capture this stuff as it happens, to not miss stuff. 

Like, last Wednesday, I was in jail for 12 hours for missing paying a ticket on time.

Watch Bobs video on Cargo trailer. I did. I bought a new Interstate trailer for 2800.  I think it was a great decision. Built my bed, kitchen and storage, insulated it and put in linoleum and ceiling wallboard. Including my ac/do refrigerator and 2000 watt pure sine generator I spent less than 800. 6 by 10 was perfect for me.

Hey.  Nice.  Would love to see the result if you feel like showing us.  Sounds like things are a little more comfortable now.
