I love having a freezer, it is nice to store meats when remote boondocking for a couple of weeks. Frozen vegies, chicken pot pies, maybe some shrimp to make a gumbo, I like to eat good when out and about.
Hello! My plan will be a separate very small 12 volt unit and use it as a freezer. Under 300 dollars and wrap it with a blanket for a bit more insulation (leaving vents unobstructed). This would use minimal power as you are not in it all the time
I like the idea of using plastic water bottles to make daily ice and that way you can relegate a separate cooler for fridge duty. So a small freezer unit seems like a must. I just ordered a new Jackery 500 and a small fridge/freezer.
In my opinion the biggest advantage of having a freezer is that you can freeze your left overs. That makes for a more varied diet. Otherwise you have to eat up anything you cook before spoilage.
