I found an interesting forum that's based upon a lot of subjects on living in Las Vegas. One of the subjects I discovered was a forum on "Van Dwelling Las Vegas."

This forum I've posted has some comments that should be disregaded to some degree. There is still some good information that can learned from this forum on van dwelling when it comes to possible boondocking locations. Here's the link:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/108/las-vegas-lifestyle/van-dwelling-las-vegas-1217697/

Some of the information is useful but some of it can is the product of ignorant people who have no idea of what van dwelling is really about. From my point of view, that's their loss!

Again, there is some good information about possible places to boondock if you ever find yourself in Las Vegas, NV. Take some of the comments posted in this forum as the result of an uninformed mind.

I will be going to vegas soon to stay for a while. I read there are a few casinos and a wal mart that seem to be ok with overnighters. My van is a chevy g20 hightop so I'm not sure if I would be able to fit in any parking garages. Would love to know if anyone here has any experience in this particular city.

Hi freejetz, I'm fairly certain that the vast majority of the parking garages here in Las Vegas WILL NOT fit a hi-top van. I've lived in Vegas almost 27 years and I can safely assume that parking a hi-top van here is not recommended.

You also mentioned that are going to "stay a while." If anything, you are arriving at the best time of the year for boondocking. The temps are only going to improve from a boondocking standpoint. From now until the end of April the weather here is very tolerable. Once May rolls around you will start to encounter hotter than usual temps for a van dweller.

If you can give me a more definite time frame I'll can give you more useful info on where to van dwell. I do know that the parking lot at the Orleans tends to look the other way when it comes to van dwellers. There are several Wal Marts that accept RV's, van dwellers, etc.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about Vegas.

Vegas apparently has a law against overnighting in a parking lot, so casinos will say no if you ask, but most don't mind if you park out of the way for a few days and don't make a mess.

Blars brings up a good point! The last thing a casino will do is alienate a patron of that casino. As long as you gamble in any given casino they won't most likely ask you to move on. But you shouldn't wear out your welcome. As long as you are spending some money they should not pay too much attention to you parked in their parking lot.

We're pretty obvious in our little class C but you may be able to get away with more in a van. Most of the casinos on the strip either don't have parking lots or don't allow overnight parking. An acceptation is the lot behind Ballys. We've stayed there many times. Off strip the Orleans is good. If you want to stay near downtown you'll probably have to stay in a RV park. The one at Main Street Station isn't too expensive. If you stay farther out most of the casinos in other cities are fine with overnight parking, Check this site - http://www.casinocamper.com/rv-park...dly-Casinos/casino-locations/nevada_c79_m146/

They're busting your balls pretty good over there. I'm cracking up.

I stayed 2 nights in Vegas. The first was at Sunset Station Casinos's parking lot. No troubles at all. People coming and going all hours of the night. You can hear car doors slammed and cars going by, but this didn't bother me. Overall mostly quite later on. The second night was a shared Target, McDonals, mini mall parking lot. Lots of places to park. I stayed close to the McDonalds with no trouble either. Got out in the morning and got a buscuit and used the Wifi.

You don't want to stay in a casino parking garage. I stopped by Ceaser's Palace and parked in their garage. During the day there was no much traffic. When I left that night, there was TONS of people coming in. A mean a car every 2-3 second it seemed. A lot of them were younger "kids" spinning tires and radios and acting stupid. And the noise just echoes in there. No way you would get any sleep. =/

Some years ago, we stayed a couple of times in the Circus-Circus RV park on the strip. Once we were there for fun and another time we chose it for a place to meet with Kit's literary agent of the time. We lived in Alaska but kept a restored 1066 Ford E100 van down in America.

It was just fine, a tad expensive but good for a couple nights...and so easy. I see that a Circus-Circus RV park is now operated by KOA but I am not sure if it is still right beside the Casino. They say it has 399 spaces....

Bri
