Boon docking?

I hear this over and over but what actually is boon docking and where does that name come from. I keep getting Daniel Boone in my mind LOL
 
Parking in the country, without RV parks, utilities, or amenities. Just you, your van and the world.<div><br></div>
 
I kind of figured that. Sounds really cool. something I liked to try....maybe. &nbsp;I wonder where the name came from though?
 
<p>Dry Camping or Boondocking is living off the grid.&nbsp; You are self contained with no hook ups.&nbsp; No electricity, no sewer hose, no water hook ups.&nbsp; People that live like this can live the life of freedom for 14 days if camping on US Gov't land.&nbsp; Once you experience this kind of life you may not want to go live in camp grounds or RV parks.&nbsp; But some people don't like Boondocking,&nbsp;so you need to give it a try to see if it suits you. </p>
