If the brand new ones struggle to 24 MPG (real world highway mileage), then the older ones won't come close to 28.

I don't know about the brand new ones but this one is getting 10kms almost consistently per litre, once 10.4. Over the top of the world highway in heavy rain on a very sticky muddy surface it only got 7.5kms per litre, otherwise the worse tank so far on paved roads after 6000kms was 9.8 kms per ltre, on a rainy day, hilly terrain, however early on in the city it did very poorly, I put that down to having sat around for four years but still it does not do as well around town, which would have to be taken into consideration when averaging we are mostly driving rural or highway. I think that brings it in around 28 mpg imperial, around 25 US. I bet I could get 30mpg imperial if I removed the side steps, installed rear wheel well spats and an air dam lower to the ground on the front.

That must be an early Illusion camper from Montreal. They are available now for about $47K US. Check this site:

I would love to have one, but it's too rich for my blood. I recently bought a new Grand Caravan with the intention of towing a small TT (Riverside Retro 155), or possibly build some sort of pull out camper package, if DW will agree. I planned on taking it to Alaska this summer, but doubt will happen. I guess there's always next summer.

It's pretty roomy and will easily give 25+ mpg highway. But, I don't like the way the 6-speed transmission shifts. I understand Chrysler has software updates to correct shifting; need to have it checked out.

Post some pictures of Alaska and the van.

There's several updates for the trans. software on those 62's. There a little crude shifting at times but the six speeds add a lot to the package.

a little update Van is going very well, the water leak is persistent but now 14000 kms,and only one new tire, I bought a new water pump 36.00 and plan on changing it over the next day or so. We came south from whitehorse down the Stewart-Cassiar then headed to Calgary via Jasper then back west over to Banff south to Windemere then east through Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba Ontario into Northern Quebec, we are now in Ontario and hoping find some work, tomorrow I will re aquaint myself with the kurbmaster (I am hoping that these two get along) it has been a wonderful road trip, lots of wildlife we saw over 35 bears 6 Grizzlies and this little trooper of a van has performed better then expected, so far in about 2 1/2 months we have spent 112.00 on camp grounds or for the odd shower, otherwise we have free camped and washed in lakes and streams. We have been blessed with great weather and it is still holding. Will sit down and post a few pics in the next few weeks as we are stable for a while, hope you are all having a great summer as well:)

WE had one issue with the transmission it wouldn't shift out of second, I thought the trip was over, we stopped I fiddled with some wires around the transmission looked through the manual and took off and that was 6000 kms back, and all has been well since.
