Anyone want to do the Dempster Highway, Yukon/NWT July 2019?

I'm thinking about leaving Dawson City, YK around July 12.

There is arts festival in Inuvik
https://www.gnaf.org
I might take one of the classes (schedule not available yet).

and as of last year, the road goes all the way to the Arctic ocean, with camping right at the ocean.

I took the Dempster to Inuvik and then the new road to Tuktoyaktuk last August.  I had a blast, but doubt that I’ll be heading up north this year.

Hope you have fun.

I am so jealous I can hardly stand it! Wish I was going!

that sounds like an awesome trip, but i am a couple years out before i head up that way. too many cool places to go and enjoy

There is a road to tuck?? how long is it? When did that open up? Have you spent the winter in Dawson, that is a quiet place in winter I spent time in Dawson one winter one of my girlfriends tought at the primary school there 30 years ago.

The road from Inuvik to Tuk opened in 2017.  Open from ice out to when the rivers start to ice up again.  Not sure if they use it during the winter or use the ice road.

Also should include if anyone is going to be in BC first half of July or in Alaska in August, might also like to catch up with anyone that might be in the region. My plan will be pretty jam packed with activities on the way up to Alaska. Total trip will be about 8 weeks.

The road from Inuvik to Tuk was opened in 2017.

When I was in Inuvik last year, I was told that the ice road was permanently gone. The new road is year round.

Bumping this. Anyone going to be in BC, Yukon, or Alaska this July - August? Would love to meet up.

Tentative plan:
BC June 27-July 10
Yukon & NWT July 11- 24
Alaska July 25-Aug 18

These days are fuzzy, I really only have the first 10 days planned out.
