Before each trip out I slightly modify my van to try to make it more comfy. I had an AGM axillary battery installed and purchased a 12 volt fridge and fan. I built a new bed platform added some rugs and a chair. Storage is underneath the bed and I have a bucket potty and solar shower. I made custom fit reflextic window coverings, have a propane heater and cook stove. Sonny is my travel companion (he's a dummy). I would like to load some photos but it's saying the file is too large so I'll have to work on that, any suggestions?

If your using a phone download an app like photo resizer and scale the image down a little. Looking forward to your pics

Sounds like a great set up. I'm really new and love hearing about what works and tips and tweaks.

This is the fun of a van conversion! I'm convinced mine will never really be "done". Every trip and night spent leads to more ideas to make things easier, better looking, more organized, and more ergonomic. All I need is time to do these things!

I think van life is more journey then destination. I love finding ways to make little tweaks to make van life better. That's the challenge and the fun of it at the same time.

I look forward to the pictures of the window covers. I currently just have blackout fabric with magnets glued into the edges. You do what works, you know? I have been building out my van for almost a year now, tweeking it to get it right is just part of a long process. :)

Sounds like a great set-up, really wish I could go the van route, but being half of a couple requires some compromise.

Ok, loaded resizer, trying to load pics....lets see what happens

How do you like the propane heater? Any problems with condensation?

Well I've only used it two or three times. I turn it on after I get in the van when I'm finished with my day then it's off for the night and I'm in my  warm comfy sleeping bag. In the morning I will get up and turn it on until it warms up, get up get dressed then turn it off.  I have not noticed any condensation problems so far. The Coldest temp I've  camped at since buying it has been low 40s.

Hi, I found one pic with my old set up but it shows the window coverings better. I bought thick reflectix fabric at Lowe's, made a pattern out of butcher paper the exact size of my window then cut it out. I went over every Edge with thick duct tape. Now they just fit right in my window and stay. I fold them up and keep them out of the way when not needed.

How does the tarp is ''hook'' to the van roof ?

I take really long bungee cords across the roof and hook them to the wheel well  on the other side.

I went back and looked at the photo and I used a different method that time. Sometimes I use tent / tarp clips and hook it directly to the guttering around my van. When I use this method I use a smaller tarp if I use bungees over the top of the van I use a larger tarp.
