:(  one american one chinese 2000 w modified and one 1000 w chinese pure.  im mad as fk.

im now ready to pony up to $300 for a good pure sine inverter.   plz recommend.    thx.

you are not going to get a good 2000w inverter for 300 bucks. if you want a good inverter look at Xantrex. there are others. but I am not a expert. the experts recommended Xantrex to me. highdesertranger

renogy has one for $299. i called them and they put me in the muzak runaround for 1.5 hours !!!! fk renogy n and amazon wont deliver for some reason even though ive bought a renogy kit before.

but if you keep on buying cheap junk you end up paying more in the long run. I have never understood this. buy quality once cry once, buy junk cry many times.

read the reviews on Amazon, the Renogy inverters have a lot of bad reviews, I mean a lot. I know I looked at them first.

actual being tight with your money means spending it wisely and not throwing it away on stuff that won't last. people that spend their money wisely don't shop at Harbor Freight. highdesertranger

My Schumacher and Cobra died this year after 15 and 11 years. But infrequent use. Still got my centech 1kw going knock on wood.

They both turn on but no output. Wonder if caps are blown from over voltage or something.

The whole quality thing is oversimplified imo. Price can reflect quality and it can reflect irrational psychology or brand demand or just brand perception. World not that simple anymore.

Ive used this before...

putting a number 23 and a jordan logo on a $50 set of nikes made for $3 in a sweatshop and charging $300 doesnt mean youre buying quality.

could the problem be the cables? they all came with skinny cables and i isedn4/0.

I was thinking that. how far away from the batteries is the run? for a 2,000 watt I think they recommend 2/0 at ten feet. that is pretty hefty cable and is going to eat up your 300 buck budget all by itself. highdesertranger

If buying the "less expensive" inverters pay the extra 20-30 bux and get the extended warranty.

ill tell you guys a funny story. after my 3 1000-2000 watt crapverters crapped out, i tried my cheapa55 walmart 499 watt inverter to run my dewalt jigsaw, reciprocating saw and power drill. as you all know, these are power hogs that pull 1000+ watts. the cheap $40 everstart inverter actually worked!!!

The GoPower has built in idle shut down that would simplify my system and provide PSW.
If I had known then about the built in idle shut off I would have gone with Go Power.

If you are powering a fridge or freezer that has a mechanical thermostat, the power saver function works great. The inverter goes to sleep and wakes up within about 4 seconds when there is a load applied...but it wont work with an electronically controlled fridge.

That load has to be above a certain power level, which is adjustable within a range of something like 25 watts to 150 watts trigger level.

In other words, if its in sleep mode, (very low standby current) it wont wake up just plugging in your smartphone charger. But if you apply a load like a blender, or toaster, or drill, it will wake up and run the item.

When I think about going to a harbor freight my body immediately locks up on me

I got a job few years back as a powersports mech. SxS's, motorcycles, 4 wheelers, etc. Lead mechanic had massive snapon box. At least $70k in tools. He would turn bolts by hand. I used cheap harbor freight 1/4 impact that only did about 10ft/lb. It was perfect because it wasnt strong enough to strip anything. On these engines theres a **** ton of 8mm bolts holding everything together.

He refused to buy anything from HF or even non snapon. But snapon wanted $650 or so. He said i will just do by hand.

After a month he seen i made significantly more money take home despite making $3 less hour flat rate....i did over 2x the jobs. He went to owners for raise and when they said no, he turned his 2 weeks in. I was now by myself and thus promoted me to lead and gave me what they paid him.

I didnt have $500 in tools. Old craftsmen and the rest pitsburgh and some kobalt. Less in my whole kit than he had in one drawer.
