After my second hand pump wore out, I went electric, mostly because it was less expensive than the quality 'Whale' or 'Fynspray' handpumps.  The Valterra handpump wore out in 4 months.  POS.

The Jabsco 12v on demand pump i bought came with a faucet for about 80$ in 2008.  Now I see it is considerably more expensive.  It is just push button on push button off, no speed/flow control. But I could put a pwm motor speed controller on it, if necessary, which it never has been.

It was designed to be installed in the bottom of a water tank.  I put mine at the same height as the bottom of my 7 gallon reliance water tank, which has a stem and a check valve and rests upright.  My pump cannot prime itself, but resting on the floor next to the tank it will drain all but about a quart, which I consider my reserve.

I use my air compressor to pressurize my reliance 7 gallon  tank to prime this pump.

I pretty much just use this tank for filtered drinking water, not washing, and I get 10 to 14 days from 7 gallons.

I just came across a much less expensive pump.

If my Jabsco fails I'd order one of these for ~1/3 the price.

Check out the other products on that site.  Especially the DLO cable.

Thought 4/0 was the biggest wire size you can get?

The outer diameter of the following wire is 1.5 inches:

I used to work in Orlando, where the Skycraftstore is. It's where I got my supplies from. Always a joy just to wonder around the store. You name it they have it.

I purchased this water 12 volt pump to go along with the Triton C5 on-demand water heater, It was inexpensive at around $55, and it has plenty of good reviews on Amazon.
the specs are  2.9 GPM 50 PSI.

I love this amazing post!

Just to comment, what about power efficiency? Cost is important, but energy is not free either! Power systems cost a lot of money too, not to mention batteries do not last forever. What do you guys think about this pump?

It's 1.25 amps @ 3GPM. They also have a ~0.4 amp version @ 2.2GPM. It looks like they one that's variable also called the TD5 -- would love to know if anyone has thoughts on this one!

Those look like pretty good pumps, I don't know what you are going to use it for. Do those two pumps require a toggle switch that you will need to turn on when you need to use your faucet or shower? The shure flow I purchased is a on demand pump that is primed and ready to go all the time but not pumping until you open a faucet or switch on the shower then it turns itself on. Then shuts down when you close the faucet or shower.

Hey @Pard4u2 -- that would be for a RO water filter faucet and a ~1.5Gpm showerhead and it would require a toggle switch, and another switch for the on-demand water heater.  I really love how there's no extra switch to turn on the water with your setup!  Still on the fence for this one~
