There are **very** energy-efficient AC fridges that, even with inverter overheads, and without the 12V thermostat switching the inverter on and off,

draw less power per cu ft than the most efficienct 12V compressor fridges like Engel, apples to apples temp differential etc.

However, I believe they are not sold in the US, and likely only manufactured in 240V.

Business opportunity there. . .
 
Yes of course.

But if a friend can bring them in with a container full of other no-duty household goods, maybe worth it.
 
Hi...i am a new user here. As per my knowledge if you are going to use storage batteries, it is best to use 12 VDC on devices that operate on 12 VDC. Some items must have 120VAC such as my microwave and toaster. Then a inverter changes the 12VDC from storage battery to 120VAC. Heating and cooking I use gas stove and heater. Lights, water pumps, phone chargers are directly from the battery.
