    Traction, not getting Stuck!

I like Duratracs also, great all around tire.Get 4 first. I prefer tall and thin vs wide fat tires in this case. Don't forget adjusting pressure is free. In sand, mud etc lower the pressure to get a larger footprint. Just don't drive at highway speeds until you "air up". Move your start...

    5.1" ground clearance,

It's not like you are going to try Moab, right? I would put on slightly taller Duratracs and go. That and some skill and you will be amazed how far you can go.

    Neat product for moving air

I am "frugal" when to comes to heat and a/c at my house.  Anyway wife was always cold so I installed a vent-less fireplace in the kitchen/great room area.  She loved it but my man cave was freezing , being below where the thermostat is mounted. For fathers day they got me a fireplace also...

Has anyone ever seen one of these?

I am looking at something similar by Omnivan, but it is still just a topper.  ...

Has anyone ever seen one of these?

I would kill for that thing. Stuff like that never shows up on the east coast. Please post what you find out about it so I can add it to my search.

    Mystery Tool ID?

gsfish, very good. I worked a lot on vintage cars and the outer band on some harmonic balancers would slip over time , so I made the tools above. They are just 2 spark-plugs cut down. Can't seem to remember if I had to tap internal threads or not, been a few years!

How modern a vehical do we drive.

I prefer old school, since I can work on them. Present "fleet': 68 GTO, 80 Grand Prix, 85 & 88 S10s. Give me a 1/2-9/16 combo wrench, hammer, file and a roll of duct tape and I can keep them rolling.

Anybody have a Wildernest camper top?

My original plan was to hard mount my Overland tent on the pick up cap.  Then cut out the roof and floor, sort of making a side opening Flippac but the sleeping area would be 6' but I am 6' 2". I saw a Wildernest camper top for sale, kinda far away from me, and thought that would solve my...

How sensitive are solar panel to heat

Not trying to protect the panel. The roof top tent has a heavy vinyl cover that needs to be on it when it is closed. The panel will be under that cover. I could just put the cover on and the panel will do nothing or I can have some convertible window material (clear) sewn over where the panel...

    Roof rack vs. solar panels?

"NTB", I like that. Thanks, usually my out of the box thinking gets me in trouble! I am sure with some interlocking aluminum angle sizes you could fabricate a cheaper slide.

How sensitive are solar panel to heat

I have an Roof Top Tent (Overland) that needs a cover when traveling and not in use. The rig may sit for a couple weeks at a time so a little trickle charge to maintain the battery is all that will be needed. Again may concern is damage, not output.

How sensitive are solar panel to heat

I am considering having a cover made with a clear window over a roof mounted solar panel. I understand that even the clearest material will effect output, so will heat but that is not an issue. Solar fields seem like they would be rather "warm",but biggest concern is it will  get too hot under...

    Roof rack vs. solar panels?

How about the panel under the rack mounted on a slider? Yes, while driving it could be partially or totally blocked but tie into your alternator to charge on the move. When you arrive, slide out the panel and let the sun do its thing. Have it slide forward and it will shade the windshield or...

    Truck suspension

"Or be part of the modern world and use a bubble simulator app on your smart phone.  ",  OUCH! Anyway, good advice, definitely wait until your build is done before messing with ride height/leveling. My goal is to have my truck level empty except full tanks(s) of gas and driver.  I will be...
