Visible Limitations

I switched to Visible about 4 months ago and so far, so good. Fast with unlimited wifi hotspot, data, talk, text.
 
I googled that model of phone and it had... very mixed reviews to say the least. Over half the reviews were 1-star.
 
I've had visible for over 2 years and had very few problems I actually used it as my home wifi ran smart TV ipad desktop and very usable for about 3 months I had to turn I. On when I got back home but worked fine all in all not the fastest ever but very usable I'm back in sticks and bricks now I used a visible phone side by side a verizon phone for 3 months before switching but couldn't tell the difference
 
Visible is only "kind of" an MVNO since it is actually owned by Verizon. I've heard that they do not throttle or limit data on their unlimited data plans for using too much data (but will temporarily throttle due to congestion like everyone else). Hope that is true as I am probably switching to them soon.
As a Visible customer for a few years, I can confirm this is how it works.
 
Does anyone have a Galaxy AO3s phone that works on Visible? I bought one from Visible but it doesn't recognize the Visible SIM. After 3 hours on the chat and many many tests they sent a new SIM that also doesn't work, although it works in my old ZTE phone. Then after 3 more hours of chatting and testing it still won't recognize the SIM.

Visible wants me to pack up the $60 phone and take it to a UPS store to ship back but that's difficult because of a medical condition. I'd much rather get it working.
 
Typically you can arrange to have UPS pick up the package.
 
Just as a reminder. You can use Verizon used phones and they will work on visible. Sometimes (most of the time) it's better to get a better quality used phone then a new crappy quality phone.
 
My Iphone 6S quit working on visible.... after two hours on chat and waiting a week on a new sim card that didn't work either, I've cancelled my account.
 
Your sim reader or phone might have other issues. That's not a new phone, and I have worked on many over the years. I can think of a number of reasons it might have stopped working.

But for the price of a good used iphone 7 or 8, it's not worth giving up a good plan if it worked for you. Just my opinion.

Internal physical deterioration of phones is an actual thing. The entire thing gets up and cools down quite a bit. There are an amazing amount of connections on the boards. Between the heat/cool cycles, drops and bumps, etc, that's a lot of stress that can add up over time. And that is just the hardware. The software can go wonky as well.

Sometimes the phone just has had enough. If you have a 6s, it's had a good run.

I tried the old and the new sim in an Iphone 10 and another iphone 6s.... three phones are not bad. But, no use to discuss it the account is now closed.
 
I think the service to too good to worry about using iphones. Just get a phone it will work with, imo.
 
While iphones have the ability to work with all of the carriers, unless they are unlocked, or are already set up for Verizon, they won't always work for Verizon.

Apple is the only phone manufacturer that handles the network status themselves. The carrier submitted a request to apply and then they make the change.

For other phone makers, the carriers handle unlocking themselves.

If the other iPhones were set up for Verizon, then chances are it's a screw up on visibles end. The downside of visible is that most everything is automated, including tech issues. Unless you actually make it to tier 2 or better tech support, they're just clicking on a "this should fix that" button on their screen.

While I know you've retired your lines, this information is more for others that might want to know.
 
After many hours on chat, doing the same tests over and over I thought maybe the SIM wasn't making contact inside the phone. I fired up my compressor and blew air into the slot and it worked. Maybe a tiny piece of plastic or something interfering with the contacts but I didn't see anything fly out with the compressed air. Anyway it works now.

iPhone 6S is going to have trouble working in a LOT of places... I had to get rid of mine because it was no longer compatible as older networks were phased out.

This is only if you bought your phone discounted with a carrier. If you buy the phone outright it should either come unlocked or you can just call Apple to unlock it (if you chose a carrier when you bought it). Went through this with my old iPhone 6 Plus when I changed carriers and made sure that my iPhone 13 was unlocked when I bought it to avoid future hassles.

All three of my family members have used Visible quite successfully running iPhones exclusively. From a 6s thru a brand new 14.
 
As long as your phone is completely paid off and your service contract is not putting some other kind of financial hold on it you should be able to get it unlocked to take to a new service.

Of course if your phone is pretty old and in bad shape you might want to just get your old provider to release the phone number to put onto a new phone with a new provider.
 
You can do both. Unlock it so you can use it on other networks in case you need a backup. Or want to sell or give it to someone.
