Here's a 1992 Dodge in my area. It's a church van, and the congregation donated a new one. The pastor said it's not burning any oil, starts up every time without issue, drives without problems, and that the only thing wrong is that the fuel gauge has stopped working, and that it has a few dings and a couple small patches of rust. I don't remember how big a fix the fuel gauge is, but I seem to remember it may be costly. Any thoughts on this? I'm going to look at it tomorrow.

I like it because of the large size, and the windows for light, although I know mpg will be pretty low....

http://gainesville.craigslist.org/cto/2975387730.html

Thanks for any ideas, folks!

Looks like a good van to start with; extended length and the windows are already tinted. I assume you can also find out who has been performing recent maintenance and ask their opinion.

As to the fuel guage, it could be just a wiring dirty connector, but if the sending unit is bad, replacement is not an easy job. Get a firm quote on the fix so you know your true cost going in.

Later on, you may want to add a high top to your van, See the attached lick below for an idea on that.

http://www.discountvantruck.com/vantopsraisedroofs/campervantopsIN.htm

Bob

Oh well, the van sold about six hours after I posted it here. Sigh. Well, good for him, and on to the next one!

I did get a quote on replacement of the whole unit @$300, and my mechanic agreed to give it a once over. Well, it is a learning experience.

Thanks for the info, Bob! Your input is definitely always appreciated.
Never fear; the good news is with gas prices the way they are there are a lot of good vans on the market.

gus
