Out here we never had anything for cell data but the crappy 'dialup' like connection. Well they finally upgraded to 3g in the area and I was shocked at how fast it is. I think it is actually faster than my home dsl. I read people complaining about not getting 4g and how their 3g sucks i thought it was just a little better than dialup but i can stream video smooth as butter. My phone is a net10 and small, but it saves my life now cause the net at my job has tanked since they 'upgraded' it recently. Text based sights like this forums are about it now. I kinda wish I had a bigger phone to watch videos on. If 3g was the best I could do while on the road I would be pretty happy with that...i guess its all perspective

After you've had 4g, 3g is no fun at all

We used 3G for years and it was fine for us. We don't do videos, much. But as Cyndi said, 4G is a whole new ballgame, where it's available. The download speeds are not even comparable.

Like any shared bandwidth, it depends on how much you are sharing it. My 3g stick goes from 5kbytes/sec to 300kbytes/sec sitting in the same location. I'm happy with a reliable 100, but few of the places I've been have that.

I can barely download any large files or stream movies on 3G. 4G speed from Verizon or AT&T is the only practical way to stream movies such as Netflix, or for wireless tethering. Otherwise, it's "buffering" galore.

I use 3G and it's doable since the tower load seems to be light where I am. If you have a choice 4G/LTE is obviously better but the telecoms are concentrating in the urban enviros. I don't have the choice, heck we don't even have copper strung for cable, lol, not that we miss much, haven't owned a TV for 15 years.

3g is so much easier on the battery compared to 4g. I love the speed of 4g but I only get a few hours before it needs to charge. I still like 4g better tho.
