Patrick...I'll take the dry weather over the wet any day.
Coos Bay is pretty tho.

The glass prisms in the sidewalk are actually skylights for basement spaces.
A while back Lugh had a massage therapy office below the sidewalk and the prisms created some interesting lighting effects.

Hi Jay,

I have a theory about the "Purple Prisms of Bisbee". They vary slightly depending on the amount of sunshine they get. Have you ever seen the antique desert glass? Especially the bottles that have a lavender cast to them? I think that the "prisms' might have started out clear and over time and exposure to the desert sun, something in that particular glass started turning purple. Remember they've been there for a long time an they've been purple in living memory. But what about before then? It could just be that the intent might have been for them to be clear, but time and the sun may have said otherwise. I could be wrong, but I wonder..

Lugh...I took into consideration the UV effects on the glass. The little, narrow street (forget the name) going up the hill from Subway St is shaded under the overhang and stays that way all year.

I'm gonna have to check with Michael London about that.

I've seen the purple somewhere and I'm wondering if it isn't Watertown, SD. I worked a lot there in the downtown area and in the back alleys where there were shops in the basements and storefronts in the alley's in days of old.

Hey, there's a good reason to go to Watertown, SD....look for purple glass :D

We made the run from Tombstone to Tucson this morning and I'm very happy with the MPG estimate on the van. We were pushing into the wind doing 60 on the interstate for about 50 miles and she cruised great.

Now, we'll hit up a friend for some space to unload and a little electric to build the bed frame. To begin with the frame will be movable so we can insulate the floor and put down (probably) linoleum when my check comes in next month. Kinda ass backwards, but there's a method to my madness :D
I guess we'll call this day one of the build and begin the video log.

Can't wait for the build to start and subsequent pictures to start rolling in.
