Greetings,

My name is Kristina Karina, and I saw the "Without bounds" documentary - I enjoyed it very much.
Was anyone in the documentary? I would like to put a "handle" with a face.
Could you post about your part in the film, please? It would be very nice to meet you.
And others like me who just viewed the film, I am pleased to meet you as well.
Please introduce yourself and post any pertinant links to your blogs, or other; thanks!

I am a 50+ year old grandmother; I am currently living in New England, USA.
My plans/dreams are:
to liquidate what I have here,
and buy a rig that I can customize, and handle on the road;
I would like to travel to the Southwest, and be closer to my grand kids.
Before I go, I would like to visit Montreal, and Toronto while I'm up here,
and maybe some other interesting sites and events while I am in New England.
I have moved around a lot in my life, and visited several places mostly in North America, Mexico,
and a couple of places in the Caribbean.
I would like to make the transition to being able to live self-sufficiently
on the road in the future.

Here is my introduction, with a short glimpse into a couple of my adventures,
and some of my other pertinent data-

Welcome Kristina. I was not on the documentary.

There are lots of women of all ages living throughout the USA. More than you may realize. Many of us love the freedom and love the single life. When you are ready, you will find someone here to help the transition and mentor you if you wish it. Many of us travel alone but enjoy company now and again, this is why the meetuos are so welcome.

I'm almost 62 and have been doing this since past February

Welcome KristinaKarina. My wife and I are in the northeast corner of NY. We are tiny house dwellers that snowbird to AZ during the winter.
I tried following the link to your blog but google said it was open to invited readers only. I've never seen that message before.

Hi Sabatical, Do you winter in Quartzite?
Do you use many of the same tech, systems of plumbing and electrical, in your tiny house as in your RV? Many seem amenable to cross purposes.
I updated my blog, I think people can access it now - thanks for the notice!

Last winter was our first snowbird outing and we stopped at the RTR first. I figured that woud be a real safe place to go as a novice. We met so many great people and had such a good time that we will do the same trip for 5 more years until I am eligble for a pension. For now we are able to spend 3 months away from home and work.
As for the tiny house systems, yes and no. We are off grid power wise. We moved the solar setup from our previous travel trailer to the tiny house. The house is wired for 12v with a couple of strategically placed inverters for our small 110v needs.
Water comes from a well that we share with my wifes parents. We bought property and built them a house to downsize into and to be close by as thier needs grew. We only output grey water so we didn't need a traditional septic system. We use a sawdust toilet for the bathroom and compost the black stuff.
We don't plan to move the tiny house although it could be moved rather easily. The plan is to switch housing roles upon retirement. By that I mean we will fulltime in our camper and spend some summer time in the tiny house. The tiny house will be our home base as long as our parents need us.
In the camper, life is the same as in the tiny house except water doesn't come from an endless source. Solar power is used for all electrical needs. Grey water is our only output and we use the same sawdust toilet as in the tiny house.
I hope my long winded answer gave you the info you were looking for.

Hi, Kristina,
Likely you know that Bob Wells, the main speaker in the documentary, writes the CheapRVLiving blog, and he generously operates this forum for us.

You'll see a lot of into information by going back within the Newcomer's Corner threads. There are also some pics and a bit of info on a thread that was started to be able to "visualize" some of the folks going to the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous in early January (see Gatherings).

Plus, as you read replies, you'll see many of us post a bit about ourselves or our blogs in our signature lines too.

Welcome!

Welcome! I just discovered the youtube channel where Bob and others appear. If you haven't watched the videos there, I think you'll enjoy them as I sure did: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_W_E5SFCxwpSOaqMjOOBTg I subscribed! I do so enjoy watching the walk-thrus of the vans and other subjects and seeing how everyone deals with the mobile life's sometimes unique challenges.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Kristena! If you click on "more" right above the description of the documentary you'll see a list of blogs by some of the people in the film. Except for Bob none of them are active on the forums (as far as I know) but many members do have blogs so check the bottom of the posts for links.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi and welcome, it sounds like you are going to fit in really well here! RVWandering is right, I'm the only one active on the forum, although a couple others do pop in and out every so often, but I am probably the only one who knows who they are.

All the credit really goes to Michael Tubs the Producer/Director, all we did was talk, he turned it into something amazing.
Bob

Merry and Happy everyone, I hope 2016 is especially prosperous and interesting for us all!
Thanks for your replies everyone!
I guess I haven't been a very good newbie - I forgot to turn on my notifications, and haven't visited recently, my bad.
So just posting a quick note before I run off for an xmas dinner ( with waffles!).
Take care, and as the Terminator said,
"I'll be back!"
