Just my thoughts at this point,,,,, if you are going to use heavier wiring (maybe even if not) use some kind of support to keep the weight off the connectors in the controller , or anywhere this might apply.

Nothing goes in the battery box except the battery.  While things like solar charge controllers and inverters are ideally located as close to the battery box as you can get them, they are mounted OUTSIDE the battery box.  Fumes from a Flooded Lead Acid battery can be corrosive and will damage such things if they are inside the box.

Thanks John, good to know - that's what I'll do then. I was planning on having them  beneath the bed with a vented access hatch to the outside, but I can divide the compartment and have the controller, inverter and fuse box in one side. Actually works out perfectly with by plan.
