It was certainly not my intention to be smug.I was really just wondering out loud about some of the people. My apologies if I upset you.

I'm still around. I switched trucking companies after 11 yrs.

This new outfit is based in Winter Haven Fl, so I'm seeing a different part of the country now. I also got a 20% bump in pay, which was nice.

After getting familiar with the locals, I discovered a new world of activities and sports.

Unfortunately I caved in an spent my van money on a new toy. The ecstasy of flying my own personal Powered Paraglider is beyond my level of words. I did a short 10 day training class in Utah, and from what the instructor Dell said,, I'm a natural. I'm now able to "fly" into places I have only dreamed of seeing.

If you have never tried "Fly Camping", then I suggest doing it before you die! With my weight, I still have 209lbs left for gear and supplies. I fly above the traffic and road raged out vacationers, to a personal utopia. I'm saving for a sat phone, due to the remoteness of some of these places. Only reachable by air!

I lost a bunch of weight as needed a reward. I've always wanted a street bike, but have seen to many horrible and grizzly bike wrecks. Mostly caused my other cars not paying attention. If I'm gonna crash, then it better be my fault.

My thinking is that the sky is the last truley safe form of travel. I have this crazy idea of touring the world with this thing. Maybe an idea as to make some money with this. Remote Emergency Supply Drops?

Fly overs at events, and dropping sponsored items like t-shirts, marriage proposals, Valentine's teddy bears, and other soft item's? ?

Don't do stupid things in stupid places, with stupid people!

I don't think most of us read your comment as being smug. That response was deleted. I found it insulting and negative.

I think some remain reading, just wanted to introduce themselves for now and would be more active as they get closer to the time when they can make "it" happen. Gosh, I went into the Escapees forum 25 years ago when I learned about "full-timing" and have been in and out during all those years. Of course, I was constantly told there that I needed to work, save and when I retired I would "earn" the lifestyle. And, now I found this website and their forum is pretty much just history in my life. Gosh, at my age, the last thing I need in the world is to be "parented"!

This time it appears that I am going to make it "out". I had to change my spring escape to fall, but I am NOT doing winter again.

The only comment I'll make here - and it's not intended to be insulting to anyone still here - is that I am constantly amazed by some of the people who post in the electrical sub-forum that they want to run this and that and this other thing, and are SHOCKED when someone explains to them just how many batteries and solar panels that's going to require.  Being able to just plug things into the wall in their sticks and bricks has left a lot of people completely out of touch with the reality of how much electrical power they actually need to support their lifestyle.  I'll bet that's a big reason for some of them leaving.

Regards
John

To everything, there is a season. You will come back to the van idea when you are ready.

Why be different from the rest of us?   ;)

If being "intelligent" was a requirement for posting here, most of us would be in deep doo-doo!! Especially me!!!  :p

Bob

I proved it with my posts in this thread.

Sorry to pollute this place with a bad vibe.
I read the OP's opening question as some jabbing sarcasm. Even if it had been I should have kept my mouth shut.

Sorry to Bob Dickerson and to you Bob.

Yea, not cool to bring a bad vibe to a overall positive place. Sorry about that.

BTW this is Squid, not my wife Raven. She had nothing to do with the post.

I'm still around, as well. Just letting the wrist heal and trying to figure out what my next move will be. I do know that the upcoming heat is worrying me, and have figured out that the battery packs I do have will not keep my fans running as much as I'd like, along with having to constantly recharge these battery packs. Would love to add some real batteries and solar, but am in the needing to recharge the funds stage right now. Figuring out the job thing is becoming fairly hard in this economically depressed area, unfortunately.

As of now, I'm in my daughters house during the day with the internet I pay for, and her A/C ;) but at night me and the pooch are still sleeping in the van in the driveway. :) Hey, all of my stuff is in there, I sleep in there, being in this house isn't any different than being in a library, right? Does that still qualify me as a full-timer?? :D

Still here, just not much to say. Was to cold for me in northern NV so I went back to MS.
House is almost empty, when sold I'll head towards NV.
Have until Oct to find land there before my drivers license expires..

I am still here, just have trouble leaving Florida. Every time I try, something happens.

Sounds good Bob.If you had rather not park at the ranch, there are lots of good places nearby in the NF.
