I vote storage on the roof, unless you have a box van or something similar. Especially if you go with a Thule or Yakima, as they are streamlined and aerodynamic. The problem is they don't hold nearly as much as my StorMor does!
PS I looked online for images of the StorMor. Odd that there are no longer any. Last year there were quite a few. (I'll post a photo after I'm next at my storage unit.) It's big, tall and rectangular shape. As for gas mileage, I did not notice a sizeable difference in effeciency/cost. Maybe 1-2 mpg at different times. That's a lot to some people, but not me. I'm used to getting 19-22 in my Odyssey.
