Chicago, Detroit, L.A, San Antonio, NYC, Fresno Ca, and Miami.
These places have gotten betten with crime, but horrendous traffic make my job of driving a 40 ton truck nerve racking. Add in the high cost of living, and city corruption... I'll call Idaho home for now.
Chicago seems like they have thier hand in ur pockets all the time. From toll roads, to crazy taxes.
San Antonio, I didnt realize San Antiino is now larger that Dallas. The roads and traffic are bad.
Detroit? Well everyone who's been through that city knows the story. It resembles a third world city... Except the empty downtown streets and crumbling abandoned sky scrapers. Sad!
NYC, you love it or hate it. Again, I've only been through Nyc in a truck. Not a truck frienly city. Lots if low bridges and toll roads.
Fresno is now the Meth and gang capitol of the west. Used to be a nice farm town founded by the same man who built the Taj Mahal. His last name was Shaw. Interesting story. I worked in Fresno for 3 yrs. Everyone I bumped into seemed angry or bitter.
Miami used to be the safest tourist destination in the US. At one point, Miami was the murder capitol if the south. I believe Atlanta and St Louis now share those statistics.
I'm still looking for off grid in Elko County Nv. Its 11 miles if dirt riad to get to some property I like. I could do as I please out there, without a knock on the door or nosey neighbors wondering what I'm doing in a van.

Portland, ME. It hates vehicles, charges you for grocery bags and I got legit stalked there.
El Centro, CA. I grew up near dairy farms but in the southwest it's different... Like the ground doesn't take liquid the same. The whole town smells acrid and sharp with stagnant cow piss and there's nothing there in the town except a crappy mall.
West Texas. All of it.
That whole stretch of freeway area around NYC, NJ, Baltimore, CT, PA, DC... There are some great places around those areas of course but that general stretch of East coast freeway sucks.
All and all though I've had many more good experiences than bad.

Of all the places I've ever been, I've never wanted to leave somewhere as fast as I wanted to leave Oklahoma City. People were really nice but the geography and lack of things to do just didn't sit well with me. I can say that about all areas of Oklahoma i've been in. Someone told me the Northeast part of the state is really nice, but i've yet to venture over that way to check it out.

IMHO California is the only state where most drivers know how to get on to a freeway--speed up quickly/match traffic speed/merge quickly. Denver (CO) however has the most dangerous drivers--I try to avoid it as much as possible. Beautiful state otherwise.

Many states in the south, people don't know how to get onto a freeway. The all drive out to the end of the on ramp and then stop! I haven't seen foolishness like that in the northeast.

Illinois has them also in Chicago. Went thru one yesterday afternoon getting on to I-290 south bound. The lights did an effective job of throttling down the on ramp which resulted in the 20 mph rush hour traffic to never come to a stop. 20 mph isn't much but it's better than zero.

I have an aversion to cities in general and avoid them when at all possible. OTOH, I love Oxford, England, though I wouldn't drive my RV there. It's a great city to just walk around in.

The traffic light on the freeway on Ramps are fairly effective, but all it takes is one person who does not know how to merge to defeat the purpose o f them, Or one person who decides that they can enter the freeway at 35mph when everybody if doing 65+. I generally accelerate slowly, but from one of these traffic lights on a freeway on ramp, My foot nearly hits the floor and I make dang sure I am upto speed before having to merge into an opening, making sure I do not have to force an opening.
Think about this. All it takes is one person to hit the brakes to cause a traffic jam, as the person behind them hits the brakes a little later and a little harder, slowing down more, the person behind them does the same, until some amount of cars later the person has to come to a complete stop! All because one person was not paying attention or following too close and had to slam on their brakes so as to not run into the vehicle behind them which let off the gas.
Traffic jams are certainly caused by volume, but could be a million times better simply if people were not such imbeciles and had the ability to judge distance and speed and be able to maintain a steady speed, instead of accelerating, slamming on the brakes, and switching lanes in their 'me first, everything revolves around me, and nobody behind me even exists and I must check my instagram comments NOW' mentality.
Places I hate the most have high percentages of these types of people, and Southern California is ripe with the self important insufferable douchnozzles. but I dislike anywhere where a significant portion of the populace is either rude, self centered, or are simply confrontational insulting douchnozzles, simply because being so amuses them.
But In Socal, the weather is Mild and pleasant most of the time, the Pacific Ocean soothes my soul, and I got a nice parking situation going on, so dealing with insufferable douchnozzles that make up the large percentage of the population here, is just part of it.

I always erroneously considered 'the south' to end at the florida border.
Yes some natives might still have the accents and southern Hospitality, but generally there are so many transplants all running from something or seeking something, and if they fail at least it is warm in the winter.
Perhaps i've read too many Carl Hiassen novels. Man, can that guy design a character and cause some belly laughs like no other author I've read, besides perhaps tim Dorsey, whose novels are also based in Florida, but more in the Tampa area, not Miami.
