I'm looking for a bed for my cabin and after seeing an ad on offering upholstery work, I sent an email asking if he'd be able to make and what he might charge for a foam matress. He quickly replied asking what size and I sent the measurements.

He then sent a reply telling me to go to Walmart as he had seen some 3 inch pads and I could buy two.....

Kind of surprised me that he'd send me to Walmart without even giving me a price for something I'm pretty sure would be easy for him to produce.

Oh well, guess I'll order it from Amazon or Walmart.

Maybe he just didn't want to make a bed......Or he could have been trying to save you some $$$$......depending on the size of the shop perhaps  their cost of foam, covering/thread, and labor might have been high and they didn't think you would want to pay that much.  Who knows, of course you could always ask them about it.  Hey maybe you could make it     :)

Have a good weekend, what's left anyhow.         Texas Jbird

I was a bit surprised that I didn't even get a price, too expensive or not. Oh well, I tried.

My favorite upholster shop did something the same for me when I was buying the mattress. Bonnie talked me out of buying the 5 or 6" foam in favor of just getting the 3" and adding a topper from W/M.

It wasn't just the savings, which were considerable.

She actually said I'd be much more comfortable with the topper instead of the thicker foam....it IS comfortable!
