I got this email today from a Casting agent who is looking for interesting people who live very cheap. That describes lots of us!! Here is the info if you are interested in appearing on their TV show:
===============

CASTING NOTICE:

Do you know how to stretch your dollar to its absolute breaking point? Does the idea of spending money on anything other than what is ABSOLUTELY necessary make you sick to your stomach?

Then we want YOU! TLC is currently casting for a second season of a hit show and is seeking families, couples or individuals who live well on very, VERY little. In this day and age, many people want to save more and spend less. But for you, saving every penny possible borders on obsession!

If this sounds like you, please email to [email protected] the following information:

Name/s:

Age:

Address:

Phone:

Email:
And tell us a little about your lifestyle and why you made the decision to live this way. Please include examples and a picture of yourself.

hey now bob, those tv shows pay the big bucks. great way to show off your life syle .gary

It seems they are looking more for the "tighwad" type that spends no money and does whatever to not spend.

the show is about entertainment. so they might decide to make you look like a complete fool and a cheap target for idiot thieves. be aware of the need for anonimoty. (cant spell that)

"Reality" shows are cheap to produce and give huge returns if they become popular.
They are also somewhat scripted, even though they claim not to be. Drama brings in viewers.

The couple of survivalist/prepper reality shows they've had tended to present those folks as weirdos. They seem to choose folks that are into a certain lifestyle, but not necessarily shining examples of how it is done. The more drama, the more viewers.

Anyway, besides being a huge invasion of privacy, would you really want to become known as the Honey Boo-Boo of the thrifty, penny pinching van dweller set?

The email [email protected]

makes me think that this is a scam that is being used to gather personal information. If it was for TLC I would imagine they would have an email address attached to the TLC website. Sounds iffy.

I totally agree. I have never heard of a corporate business that doesn't have a business email. Only private people in small businesses have a personal looking email. Any webhosting service comes with an email to match your domain. I would also think you could go on the website of the show to look for a casting call. They all have a link.

EXTREME CHEAPSKATES

Are you the thriftiest person in your circle of friends? Is cheap a way of life for you? Do you cut costs by any means necessary? If you or someone you know loves to save a buck or pinch a penny then we want to hear from you! Email us at [email protected].

Looks like this is the show, but different email. BTW, 'secondseasoncasting@gmail' is suspicious as he** to me, even beyond the gmail addy, which is hinky all on its own. Then again, working with groups that fight internet scammers tends to make one a little paranoid.

Money wins, hands down, regardless what the outcome is for folks in this life. The person approached will cooperate, regardless of the long term impact.

To answer the initial question: No. I'm not an attention whore.
