I have the running board at my slider, but for my 86 year old friend I also add a sturdy plastic folding step for her. I suppose one could use that and put a rope on it, pull it up behind them and toss it behind the seat?

I know it's "old news," but thank you for this link!  Moby and my spouse had a confrontation with a curb.  They lost.  The fiberglass running board got caught, seriously damaged, and is being removed.  Custom work is being done to repair the fender flares.  For the time being, I will use a fitness step at the side doors, but this would be a nice longer-term solution!
