I have 2 string bags that hang from my upper cabnet for my produce it keeps it from bouncing and bruising as we drive on bumpy roads. it work great had a bag of apples that stayed unbruised for over 2000 miles! The potatoes did not roll around and the onions did not get soft and the lemon stayed fresh smelling for the salmon dinner. And it was easy to find everything.

Hardware and tool stores such as Harbor Freight sell plastic roll-up tool rolls. They contain pouches used by carpenters to store chisels and other sharp-edged tools. My silverware drawer is hard to access, so I use a tool roll to store silverware, utensils such as spatulas, kitchen tongs, a small flashlight, Bic  lighters, etc. After a day of driving, I unroll the tool roll and use a carabiner to hang it above the back door of my rig, in the kitchen area. It makes utensils instantly accessible and is far more convenient and organized than a silverware drawer.

I like the tool roll hack. I use canvas tool rolls for cord storage. I swear those things multiply all by themselves.

I had a foot long bottom of an interior door that I had cut off mounted on the wall that had interior cardboard partitions and store sharp knives in by piercing the card board sections. It is 1 3/8" wide so the handles fit between the surfaces and works really well for my long fish cleaning knives.

Got tips & tricks?

for reducing the space your "chuck box" requires, help keep functionality, making the most of items, dual / triple uses for things

Great example: we love making and eating crepes, but can't justify bringing the special cast iron convex pan along

Voila!

Very kinky trick, using a fry pan upside down for cooking, such as a smart idea. Never thought of it before.

Please don't drive with sharp utensils hanging from magnets.  They would all become projectiles in a sudden stop (collision).
I'm in a trailer so would never be near enough to be affected.  For someone in a van, I take your point(so to speak).

I would not be using magnet bars, I do like them but the space is small. I keep the knives in a drawer and the result is less visual clutter. Choices are not always about convenience. Of course if you just love looking at knives then they will become your art on the walls. To each their own choice of decor.
