Wayne National Forest, Ohio
How many here have stayed in or depend on the National Parks or National Forest. (I live in the Wayne National Forest area myself) These may be seen as safer places to stay with more enjoyable improved surroundings than just Boondocking.

Do you think you will be effected by this ? What do you think ?

Interesting how it always has to do with LAND. Canada, Mexico, Panama, Greenland, Ukraine, Gaza.......
It has to do with power and control, and material resources. In the post-human AI driven world, oligarchs will build whatever they want using the material and energy resources they are able to command. They are getting a head start... the race for King of the World is on...

Above: I watched these 2 grown 40ish year old park employees literally take 55 minutes to replace a flag pole rope while jawing & gossiping about nothing.
Something I could have done by myself in prolly 10 maybe 15 minutes at most while I was drinking kawfee.

Something I could have done by myself in about 5 minutes.

Now, I’ll grant you both these incidents were at Florida State Parks but my experience & observations of federal park employees is pretty much identical.

Yep; too damn many that don’t do anything. Glad to see they getting rid of a bunch of them.

One direct impact from reading that article is on the NFS forest lands there will be very few controlled burns to clear out underbrush happening. Last summer while camping in the Kaibab and Coconino areas there were a lot of controlled burns. Another impact might then also be longer, extended campfire bans if there is reduced fire fighter staffing. Most wildfires in that area are from lightning strikes, there are thunderstorms nearly everyday in the monsoon season. What might happen if there is another very bad fire season is the National Forest areas will just be closed to all camping. That happened to all NFS camping in Arizona several summers back. All staff got moved to fire fighting and any gates on NFS roads into camping got locked or signed No camping allowed.

As to improvements to National Parks that is hard to say as many of the facilities are essentially run by concessioners who hire their own staff. But Federal Grants for additional physical improvements or rehabilitation of existing structures and features seem unlikely this next 4 years other than essential repairs.

If you were to look at Federal Employee staffing onsite at the LTVAs and other BLM areas around Quartzsite it is already at a bare minimum for Rangers. Only one law officer who carries and as far as I know only one other Ranger who is not a full law officer. All other staffing in the BLM areas around Quartzsite is strictly volunteer and they not employees. They sign documents saying they are not employees and they may not ever receive any financial benefits such as the current $12.50 per day shift incentive offering. That daily fee thank you to volunteers is not guaranteed to be given to them and if it is given there is no specific date they will receive it by.

So you willing to take the place of both those employees at their rate of pay and work twice as much? lol!!! They accept volunteers you know! You can donate your time and save us a bunch! Let’s see if the hiring freeze wasn’t on and you were accused of a few sexual crimes by several women, had a felony for fraud or two, had a bunch of off color racist posts on X you might be considered for a Department head by Trump! Probably given access to all sorts of classified materials as well!

Well they need to double the staff so there can be 4 times as many govt workers that don’t do anything but flap their jaws about nuthin.

Probably pissed off they can’t take advantage of the voluntary resignation the federal employees got offered. Sit at home and get paid thru September! Lol!!!

Yep. So I guess we're right on track then. We just don't have a end game date yet.

Yes I'm on that one, outside, I'm talking about inside Yellowstone because of topic.
You probably won’t want to wait in line to get in before long as with a loss of staff the number the hours of operation and number of the entrance gates will be reduced! Most of those employees were seasonal and the ones that weren’t were on probation as those are lower level positions. Musk sent them all notices pretty much last Friday.

The plan is dispersed just outside West Yellowstone for a week. I come in on Sunday to a paid site (which I just reserved) for another week. And head south after that. If I can get away with no hassles dispersed camping inside Yellowstone I'm fine with that. My chances are good because of the reduced staff? Or they might not be as strict?
