Hello,<br><br>I work for a televison production company and we are currently in the process of developing a new show.&nbsp; Below is the official casting notice.&nbsp; If it interests you, please let us know.<br>Thanks<br>--<br><br>Raw TV, the makers of the hit shows Gold Rush and Locked Up Abroad, are searching for individuals to feature as part of a new series for a major cable television network. Do you have the spirit of an American pioneer? Are you fed up with the world you live in today and imagine another - better - way to live? Do you and your family and friends ever talk about leaving society we know it, leaving it all behind and building a new world off the grid, with the frontier grit of your forefathers? If you are passionate about your beliefs and would be willing to share them with a national TV audience we would love to talk to you.<br><br>If this sounds like you, whether you have a plan in action, have a more long term dream or are already living out on the frontier, please email your contact details and a brief description of your situation to <br><br>[email protected]<br>

What exactly are you looking for here?

<font size="4">They don't know. Someone at RAW got the job of looking for a new series. So this poor buggar has to come up with some ideas. If you ever did land something, get your union card. I've done work as an extra before. At least you'll get paid. Of course they could make you look like a fool, like on Gold Rush Alaska. Of course it looked like an easy thing with the people they had. If I'm not mistaken RAW sold the show to who... was it the&nbsp;Discovery&nbsp;Channel?</font>

LOL I would look good on TV, but I have no idea what Gold Rush Alaska is, I haven't watched an actual TV show in years, I go to my son's house and watch some football...but no TV in my place...<img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"><img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"><div>besides it sounds a lot like work...YUCK</div>

I grew up in LA and know the industry fairly well. This is why I'm asking. I don't appreciate how they sometimes handle things and make people look for the sake of entertainment.<div><br></div>

I just re read this post and I see the company has a .uk web address, so this must tbe some company from England?

I hear ya Johnny .. this is why I gave up watching any TV or cable almost a decade ago. I do watch a few shows still but only after vetting recommended ones pretty stringently.<div><br></div>

Not to&nbsp; sound&nbsp; disrespectful to the&nbsp; post&nbsp; starter ,&nbsp; but&nbsp;&nbsp;I'll pass. &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;I value&nbsp; my privecy .&nbsp;The&nbsp; choise to&nbsp;/&nbsp; or&nbsp; being&nbsp; Forced&nbsp; to /&nbsp; live&nbsp; in&nbsp; the&nbsp; ways&nbsp; discussed here on&nbsp; this forum ,&nbsp; are not&nbsp; about&nbsp; living out&nbsp; a&nbsp;"dream" Its&nbsp; about&nbsp; survival .&nbsp;Real survival ! And&nbsp; I&nbsp; for one&nbsp; do not&nbsp; intend&nbsp; to&nbsp; draw attention&nbsp; to myself&nbsp; or&nbsp; anyone else&nbsp; who&nbsp; has made&nbsp; the&nbsp; decision&nbsp;&nbsp; of their&nbsp; life,&nbsp;&nbsp; to live&nbsp;&nbsp; this way, and jepordize&nbsp;our sucess,&nbsp; in a public&nbsp;display only&nbsp; to&nbsp; cause&nbsp; the govt&nbsp; to make changes that would make it&nbsp; even&nbsp; harder to&nbsp; suceed in&nbsp; our&nbsp; way of life .&nbsp; <br>&nbsp;&nbsp; It about&nbsp; beating&nbsp; the system at its own game. We chooise&nbsp; to have ,&nbsp;&nbsp; when&nbsp; the system&nbsp; demands&nbsp;&nbsp; that&nbsp; we&nbsp; are not&nbsp; allowed to have.&nbsp; The&nbsp; system&nbsp; demands we pay&nbsp; for&nbsp; the systems&nbsp; failed policies&nbsp; and politics with&nbsp; devalued property , inflated prices and&nbsp;stagnate wages&nbsp;&nbsp;,&nbsp; and&nbsp;we&nbsp; say&nbsp; no&nbsp;,&nbsp; We will keep our money, we wont be paying&nbsp; your unconstitutional&nbsp;taxes&nbsp; or&nbsp;&nbsp; atleast as few as we can realize. Our money&nbsp; is our money , we worked for it&nbsp; and it is not enough&nbsp; to cover even&nbsp; a poverty&nbsp; way of life&nbsp; living&nbsp; "by&nbsp; the&nbsp; book"&nbsp; So&nbsp; we&nbsp; choose&nbsp; to&nbsp; write our own&nbsp; book with our own&nbsp;rules and live in&nbsp;some resemblance of&nbsp; freedom and comfort. where as "by&nbsp; the book"&nbsp; we would&nbsp; be&nbsp; cold&nbsp;, hungury ,&nbsp; always&nbsp; struggeling&nbsp; to make&nbsp; ends meet,&nbsp; with&nbsp; what little wage&nbsp; we&nbsp; get, only&nbsp; going to&nbsp; the rich&nbsp; and govt tax. <BR>&nbsp;We collectivly&nbsp; say&nbsp; no more of&nbsp; this . <BR>&nbsp;We can live&nbsp; with&nbsp; ocean&nbsp;&nbsp; and lake views ,&nbsp; mountain views ,&nbsp; what&nbsp; ever view&nbsp; we want, when&nbsp; ever&nbsp; we want.&nbsp;&nbsp;We dont have&nbsp; to live in a cockroach and&nbsp; meth&nbsp; infested&nbsp;&nbsp;overpriced apartment , when&nbsp; we&nbsp; could&nbsp; no longer&nbsp; afford&nbsp; or&nbsp; stomach&nbsp;&nbsp; the&nbsp; devaluation&nbsp; of &nbsp;the&nbsp;&nbsp; "dream" . &nbsp; <BR>&nbsp;We have found&nbsp; we dont&nbsp; need&nbsp; 3000 sq foot of hell&nbsp; to&nbsp; bind our&nbsp; wallets , and our spirit .&nbsp; We&nbsp; can&nbsp; enjoy the same&nbsp;views and&nbsp; even&nbsp; change of views &nbsp; and live like the&nbsp;kings we <U>use too</U>&nbsp; serve, &nbsp;&nbsp; with&nbsp; much less&nbsp;and&nbsp; MUCH less worry over all .&nbsp;&nbsp; I&nbsp; say&nbsp; we are&nbsp; MUCH better off than&nbsp; the kings , and&nbsp; I hope&nbsp; we will collectivly&nbsp; say&nbsp;&nbsp; No&nbsp; thanks&nbsp; to your&nbsp;&nbsp;offer . We&nbsp; are not marters for public entertainment .&nbsp; We&nbsp; are a free people&nbsp; who&nbsp; intend to&nbsp; remain so . &nbsp;<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <br>

They are on the wrong forum,&nbsp;<div>they are looking for Preppers and Survivalists not people who live cheaply in there Vehicles or small property houses etc.</div><div><br></div><div>Try Prepper forums guys, you will get better luck, but after what they did to the Prepper/Survivalists, the last show, you might not get such good feedback their either, but for different reasons. They made them look like fools and total wackos.</div>

Just to clarify,<BR><BR>We're not trying to make anyone look like idiots.&nbsp; The concept of the show is document the creation of a self-sustaining community.&nbsp; Perhaps this is the wrong forum to find people, but we are casting our net far and wide.&nbsp; We have looked at preppers and survivalists, but we want people want to live in this type of community for whatever reason, not just because they are afraid the world may end.<BR><BR>And even though Area 51 said he wants no part in our show, his sentiment, the idea that <BR><BR>"w<SPAN id=post_message_1271472191>e have found&nbsp; we don't&nbsp; need&nbsp; 3000 sq foot of hell&nbsp; to&nbsp; bind our&nbsp; wallets , and our spirit .&nbsp; We&nbsp; can&nbsp; enjoy the same&nbsp;views and&nbsp; even&nbsp; change of views &nbsp; and live like the&nbsp;kings we <U>use too</U>&nbsp; serve, &nbsp;&nbsp; with&nbsp; much less&nbsp;and&nbsp; MUCH less worry over all,"</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN>&nbsp;<BR><SPAN>is what our show is aiming for.</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN>&nbsp;<BR><SPAN>If you have any other questions, please post them.&nbsp; I'll return and check.</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR>

A few things, I saw a few of the Alaska shows and, yes, they were made to look like fools, but not neccesarily by the TV producers. From my observations, the producers didn't need to do much to make them look like fools, the participants were perfectly capable of doing it all by themselves. And mainly because they were just average people who had never considered what it would take to live in that way and were not mentally or knowledgebly prepared for the experience. The entire thing was a shock to them mentally, physically and emotionally. But it would definitely be a different story with knowledgable people on the show. And seeing our success as individuals and as a group, just might be the wake-up call that so many of our families and &nbsp;friends need, to understand why we need to do what we are doing. But not just them, also the rest of the people out there who are either ignoring the warning signs or just have given up on everything because they are afraid of the chance of failure. So they scoff at us, knowing that we will be the ones to survive and they will not. Or convincing themselves that nothing terrible could possibly happen to them. It's all about the fear, face it or stick your head in the sand and hope that fate won't see you.<div><br></div><div>But it cannot be a show about failure, It must be a show about success. People need hope. The question is... will it be about success or failure. People need knowledge, and also, will it inform people of what it will take both for a nomadic or sedentary life. We have that knowledge and we would be delinquent in our responsibility to the human race to not pass that knowledge and experience on.</div><div><br></div><div>All of us are living this life because we want to, and some of us are also living it because we think society is going to come apart soon. It really doesn't matter, one or both, we all want our freedom without the government getting involved and disturbing our choice of "pursuit of happiness". But our numbers are so small that if the government decided that we were a threat to their personal goals, then there is nothing we could do to stop them, except hide. And I, personally, don't what to have to live like that. It would disturb my freedom. This type of show MIGHT bring so many of the public to our side that the government would hesitate to threaten us, because it would damage their approval rating, and they can't have that, they might not get reelected (gasp). In fact, it just might bring some of the polititicians over to our side (scary) for the purpose of getting "our" supporter's votes. That's how you use their system against them.</div><div><br></div><div>We also need to consider how successful the Discovery Channel show was. It succeeded because people wanted to find out information. And in the case of the Alaska show they learned what NOT to do. Even that's important. Maybe this time the producers can show them what TO do , correctly this time.</div><div><br></div><div>I believe that, if offered, I would except the challenge. And do my best to help people to, hopefully, learn they don't need all the things that they have been told they need to live a happy and contented life. And thereby reducing everyone's footprint on the world.</div><div><br></div><div>Maybe I'm being overconfident in my ability to change the way people think (most likely). And I'm, probably, giving people too much credit on their willingness to actually give a shit. But I will, at least, have made an effort. And that's all I can do.&nbsp;</div>

Sorry it was so long. Didn't think I had that much to say when I started. I should have known better. My sister would be laughing herself to death at that. LAMS<div><br></div><div><br></div>

RawTV - Ok I'll bite. When you say the focus of the show is about creating a self sustaining community, am I correct in assuming you mean a stationary one?<div><br></div>

I don't think a moving one would be a good idea. I think it would create a problem those who live the vandwelling lifestyle and don't want the public to be so aware of it!<div><br></div><div>Are you going to drop a group of people off and come back in a few months to see how they are doing? Or do you intend to make it some sort of "reality show"?</div><div><br></div>

Good question, dropping them off, would be a good idea.I realize that you would need some documentation, which is good, but direction would not be. And I think stationary would probably be the smartest way to do it. Nomadic would be hard to document. And we would have to have a little say in creation, if not more. It's our lives on the line.

Just chatted with RawTV. He's looking for people who are willing and able to live in a community together and be self sustaining. Not a mobile one so much as stationary and along the lines of what's going on at Slab City (although they want to avoid the hippie vibe the Slabs has).<div><br></div><div><br></div>

Bottom line is they want to make money in an&nbsp;environment&nbsp;they control! &nbsp; It would be like any other so called reality show, with silly challenges and prizes for being the best at being the worst.&nbsp;<div>Drop off 10 people in the woods somewhere and come back in 3 or 4 months and see who is still around...</div>

better yet drop off the&nbsp;management or owners of RawTV in the<div>Big Jacks Creek Wilderness&nbsp;and see how they fair on their own for a few weeks...now that would be reality</div>
